The AI should start real invasions!!!

In my game on Marla Singers World Map i took notice that the AI is not able to conquer all continents because they don´t start massive invasions like - first: bombardment with bombers (from aircraft carriers), second: bombardment with ships, third: go ashore with 50 or 100 tanks, artillerie and mech infantry, fourth: build a beachhead with an airport (haven´t ever seen the AI built one) or city with an airport...

I think that must be possible in higher levels of the game

I notice that the AI isnt exactly very smart at times, especially when it comes to warmaking. I only see them sending single units againsyt my lines, occasionally groups. I want fronts!

Thats what i mean. The AI comes with single units maybe 8 tanks in one transporter (ohhh) and i can´t stop laughing.

It would be very hard to program something like that.

When on the same continent, the AI does pretty good.

Compared to the Civ2 AI, Civ 3 is a genius. ;)

I would love to see the AI start real invasions all they do now in my games is mabye every once in a while send a transport with like 6 units ( 2 MA, 1 warrior, 1, swordsman, and 2 mech) and thats it. I also would like to see them use aircraft carriers right for once. Using Marines correctly also wouldn't be bad.

I would want more like 20 transports, cuz 8 units dont do crap in modern era unless all MA (or ICBM's!)

It would be nice if the AI was a little brighter. It would be fun to see a couple AI's gang up on you and do a massive D-Day invasion type thing.

thats what i always wanted in a strategy game, a HUGE invision, something hard.

yea but think about it if the computer did do massive invasions u would have too many newbies complaining about how the AI is ganging up on them.It would be fun for us vetrens tho

I have said that above: "I think that must be possible in higher levels of the game"

Yea, it would be better if they could make it sort of a "scaling" AI or something. Then again, the AI doesnt attack much on Chieftain anyways, period.

A solution (sort of) is to modify transports to hold like 20-30 units, the AI would fill it up and then land. It actually works pretty well but you can easily just kill the transport and you'd cruch their invasion.

About AI using marines correctly, they do! Give them a chance. They usually use them when you are on a different continent than they are.

@ John Falkner, it isn't possible on higher levels. The only difference between higher/lower levels is that stuff costs the AI more to build in the lower levels and they get discounts on stuff in the higher levels. There's not much change in intelligence, but you do see a lot more wars.

The AI really needs to be transformed to be atleast a massive attacker, if not an intelligent one. Otherwise, you usually are not under too much pressure throughout the game. Anyway, right now, when I have a big enough military, I dont worry about intercontinental invasions by the AI ( except ICBMs of course, but then, that's not an invasion). Hope that some day the AI will give real sleepness nights planning the rescue of my besieged civilzation :)

@ BobTheTerrible, you are right, at the moment there is not much difference between the difficulty levels and the doings of the AI, except they are more aggressive and spread over the continent really faster (because they can produce cheaper!), but we talk about Conquest and i hope somebody of ATARI will read this and they will change some things with the AI. In another thread i´ve posted to change the difficulty level during the game, maybe you can have an option to turn invasions on and off?

I did see an AI attacking another using what looked like a relay chain of Galleons escorted by a Frigate or Ironclad. While the turn was processing, it showed the ships cruise up to shore, drop off the troops, move away, then another galleon/escort moved in and did the same. Happened for a few turns. (The AI's opponent had some poorly-defended towns in a jungle area near my territory.)

Yeah, I've had the AI use an amphibious unit (a Berserk in my case) to attack one of my cities. Fortunately, it was a galley and I think it only had one Berserk, but it was rather unsettling.
