From Civ Fanatic's Pre-Release info pages:

+The Diplomatic Victory: After building the United Nations Great Wonder, your Civilization is voted on to take control over that organization. Since it is difficult to maintain good relations with all Civilizations (especially in large games), this is possibly the most difficult victory condition to achieve. Click on the United Nations link for more information.

Winning the game also gives you a movie (no matter how you chose to win it).

I won the Diplo. Victory and there was no movie!:(

It's just a bug or another victim of the rushed release?!:(

What exactly would you make a movie about? The thrilling daily business of the U.N. as it deliberates on international...

I'm disappointed about the movie too.

SuperBeaverInc., you can make a movie where they show the UN building or something, and perhaps a large room with a leader (you) at the front and everyone is applauding.

You guys play the game for a freekin 30 second video at the end?Im not to sure civ is for you.......

Haha I won a diplomatic victory and I didn't even notice that there was a video... actually with the Space race victory I wanted the movie to be over with so I could start with the next game. :D

Personally I felt that the space race victory video was a little weak. And is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the AI civs really go for the space race victory now, in civ 3 I almost never had an AI even bother to attempt it.

Yeah, I liked the Civ3 space race video much better. The Civ4 one is just kinda....yawn...

And yeah, the AI's are just crazy for that dang space race. Last game I played there were five of us trying to build a stupid space ship. Hatshepsut ended up beating me to it because that lousy Aztec backstabber sucked me into a border skirmish. I think I'm going to turn space race off like I've already turned off score/turn limit victory. The tech for it happens so late and the ship parts are so cheap to build by that time that it just becomes a matter of who's the first who can free up eight or so cities for a dozen turns. I kinda prefer victory based on either conquering the majority of your neighbors or making them all your friends rather than holding out for an arbitrary cut off date or lobbing a tin can at the nearest star. Maybe once the SDK comes out I can mod the ship parts costs so it's more....welll....more monumental to win that way.

is it just me or there is no wonder movie ??

Diplomatic victory is a wuss's way of winning anyway (along with Space Race, Cultural, and anything that doesn't involve killing as many people as possible) :mischief:

I agree - kind of anti-climatic without the movie.

Let's be honest Diplomatic Victory would be anti-climactic even with a movie (not that I won't take it if it is the only one I'll be able to get).

Diplomatic is especially anti-climatic when you control 70% of the votes :p. But instead of voting myself Secretary General, I just conquered Egypt and won a domination in my last game. :D

my first game of civ4, the ai got a space race victory. and yes, i tried to stop them. but they had superior tech. i tried _really_ hard to stop them... was playing on noble. and it was my first game of civ4 ever :P

I was quite disappointed that there was not diplomatic victory movie. I went out of my way to make dip. my first win, and I don't even get a movie! I was told that every victory had a movie, so I was disappointed.

I noticed that too. Guess it just means I can't go for a late-game Domination victory anymore...

Lol, yeah I noticed that too. Started for the push on conquering and one of the remaining civ's built the space ship. Totally caught me off guard. :D

I must admit I was a little surprised that there wasn't a diplo victory movie. Maybe someone at Firaxis agrees with me that Diplomatic isn't a proper victory, and so is undeserving of a movie. ;)
