The Dragon Hoard

*yea he should definately be city raider immune-considering he doesn't recieve defensive bonuses
*how about a touch of heroism promotion thats given to a non heroic unit above 50 xp that defeats a dragon or avatar at 80% or less odds in it's favor

*would provide 1 xp every 2 turns untill 100 xp

-could lead to the hero promotion
which it replaces (mostly because that leads to the heroic str line)
-or just a promotion given to the units that attack and capture the dragons horde for 50 turns
*or maybe units in the area just get bonus xp when the dragon dies...
i wantz a little more from slayin teh dragon xp wise:mischief:

It's not Archeron which was cippled, it's you Elven Archers which were overpowered! (I just had to say it).

Hee!

Here's the thing; before this battle I used to just swarm in with a continent-load of str 3-4 units and litter the ground around Acheron's city with their charred corpses before he finally (if ever) went down.

This time around, I was still amassing my army of dragon-fodder. I'd brought some mages along (I'd beelined the magic techs, so I had them earlier than I normally would have) and I figured I'd get them some xp from the spearmen and such that would be still defending the city after Acheron had died.

I got a little bored waiting for all the archers to show up and summoned a few fireballs and such to pepper the city with, which was kind of fun. I checked out the city to see what damage had been done to the mooks, and lo Acheron was hurt!

I had enough mages there to whittle him down a bit every turn (he has a fiendish healing rate) and I attacked when he was so weak a spearmen became the default defender.

My point is, I lost two archers when I was happy if I lost less than thirty. :mischief:

No, being immune to magic doesnt make you fire resistent (it is magic that summons the fire, but it is just fire).

This is a relief. I'd reasoned that that was probably the case, but I wasn't sure, which made me a bit uneasy about the whole affair, like I'd inadvertently cheated.

But shouldn't a creature whose interiors are immune to fire (or are these poor creatures suffering from fire refux all the time?) also be fireproof on the outside?

If we really want to make archon cool (and keep one barbarin city around for nearly the whole game) I say Archeon is immune to anything but heros. Have fun. :P.

more a lurker here than a poster, but maybe some of the more aggressive dragon ideas, like the original poster's could be worked in as a game option from the start.

the opening game with raging barbs is a lot different from one without.

so a game with the option "Age of Dragons" checked could really change the mid-end game, but if you didn't want to play with it you wouldn't have to.

I have always wanted miny dragon whelps. They would spawn with Acheron and be a little stronger than Orc Speamen. This would make the city alot more deadly. Usually, if it spawns near me, I spam culture to prevent it's culture from enfulging me, and take it out at my leisure. The City should be more offensive to make taking it out more important.
