People here, especially Americans, often make fun of European countries and their commitment to peacekeeping and such. France is usually their target. Called Eurowhiner and such. "Does France have enough white flags to go to war?"

But did you know that France have 33,000 troops deployed abroad?
Bosnia, Kosovo, Haiiti, Afghanistan, various places in Africa - It's not that France never did anything to help out. French and American troops coorporated in the first golf war, in Afghanistan, in Yugoslavia and in Haitii. And now because of a single war - Iraq, they are the subject of your not-so-funny slandering. Im not so fond of being an American ally, then. I mean, should I risk my life for you, and the first time we have an disagreement, have thrown mud at me?

Or what about the whole "Surrender monkey" deal. Do you even realise that the Germans ran over everyone in that fase of WWII? Britain was saved because of the canal, not because they fought better than the French. Indeed they were pushed back and forced to evacuate at Dunkirk. France did not have that option, but kept on fighting till 92.000 of their troops had died and defeat was certain. After that the Free French and the Resistance fought well against the Germans.

Or in that other thread, when it was said that Denmark would provide two ships, MobBoss wrote:

Simply staggering support from these two UN giants. Staggering.

This is pretty much why the UN fails. Without the backbone of the USA and Britain, they pretty much devolve into something with a backbone the consistency of spaghetti. The military force listed here is more likely to join Hezbolla than disarm them.
Dude, do you realise that the only reason Denmark dosn't provide ground troops, is that we already have all our troops in Afghanistan and in Iraq? We have supplied 1300 first class troops for overseas service, for years now. That's a alot for a small country. Thanks alot, America! Let me go fight for you, let me risk me and my comrades life in some desert, while you slander and make fun of me!

I'm glad you said all that.

Only morons make fun of the French for surrendering.

And to my fellow Americans: drop this attitude that Europeans should be eternally thankful to the US for helping in World War 2.

It's a fair point, but it's not because one american in this forum mocks Denmark that it means that the american government does not appreciate the danish help.

After all the US also gets it's fair share of slandering and mockery in this forum.

I would say most people here don't think like you have outlined, just the loudest.

but i guess that would go for all dumb people.

in the same post you say that the stereotyping of europeans is wrong, yet somehow manage to sterotype all americans as jerks to the point of wanting to call off alliances.

the majority of americans or the ones i'm surrounded by at least have no real ill feelings toward any european country

I think most of the people who "hate" a country do so because their leaders do. Look at the Freedom Fries affair, and how all of that was so ridiculous. It started (or maybe took giant proportions) thanks to US government. Paying tax for that ?

And don't be too mad about the Americans. Some of them say we're surrendering monkeys and hate our manners in our own country, but they keep flooding our touristic places all over the year. ;)
