I did but he couldn't get his computer to work... or he just didn't look...

He said that no one else had called so it had to be a minor problem so I'd have to take care of it on my own. So lets inform them that this is not an isolated incident.

I called them and they told me to get EB to swap with me another game...of course this will only work if they have another copy with the right poster.

Same thing they told me. I'd be pissed if I got to the store and found my preorder already opened, or not there because of that.

I sent a comment to Firaxis at their website about this, we'll see what happens.

Well the good news for me is that half of my father's side of the family speaks French and could translate for me, the bad news is they are all in Canada speaking French. Small matter. Kind of funny actually.

It's ironic that the tech tree is in French, since on the back of the manual where they have a pirates ad, they make sure to mention that in pirates you can plunder FRENCH ports...

Mine was preordered from EB on 10/19 and shipped to my local store. I picked it up this morning.

I got an email back from Firaxis (from a real live person) that says he is passing it on to QA and will get back to me. I got that email less than a half hour after I sent my comment.

i picked mine up at a local gamestop, cds are fine and poster is in english.

however i havent looked at my preorder one (which happened to be dropped off right when i arrived at the mall). i'll keep it shrinkwrapped for ebay in 2010

Just got a reply back from Firaxis... Looks like good news:

Hi Rob,

2K Games has determined that a small number of units of Civilization IV
incorrectly included the French Canadian tech tree poster due to an error at
an assembly plant. They will definitely be replacing these at their cost and
will have information on their website at www.2kgames.com shortly. We
apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
