Those unhappy with BMI might check out this. It estimates your body fat percentage by comparing your height with your abdomen and neck (men) or waist, hips and neck (women). Developed for the US Navy.

It says I've got 7% body fat. Recommended is 15% for men, 22% for women.

My body fat percentage is 12%. That means I'm carrying around approximately 27lbs of fat. Thats more than some of you weigh. Quick someone liposuck me :)

Wow my body fat came out to 3%... I'm in damn good shape!

At first it came out to 88% because I entered 5'7'' instead of 67 inches... scared me for a minute.

Mine was at 13%. I guess that's good news. It did seem wierd that they wanted the neck circumference, though.

BMI is such a crappy indicator of health

I didn't read all the pages yet, but I don't trust this thing quite either, mainly because of my physics background. Kg are a measurement of mass, lbs are a measurment of weight, which is a special kind of force (dealing with gravity). Sure on Earth you can typically convert kg to lbs using a factor of 2.2, but the wording should be changed, my weight is not 80 Kg, it's 180, my mass howwver is 80 kilos. Mass<>force. Just don't trust soemthing that is suppose to be doing neat calculations, when it doesn't 'understand', some basic physics.

Funny how everyone in the forum has a perfect body..

I'm not worried about my health... I'd be worried if I had more body fat considering how much I run. It's an addiction. I'll post a pic on the member photos threat so people can see I'm not lying. Clothed, of course, don't worry.

Btw, wow, I'm really amazed how much thinner CFCers are than the general population. Amazing! You guys are going to live a long long time :goodjob:
Or maybe its just that the fatties haven't been voting
Ah ?

Actually, these numbers are quite on par with what I see these days (though, to be frank, these days I see a percentage of hotties I could not even believe...).
Remember that these forums are internationals, not just for anglo-saxons countries :)

Don't be so sure. BMI under 19 (or 20, or 18.5, depending on who you ask) is suppposed to correlate with early death.
Is this a joke ?

19.5

Used to be higher but since I started working as a bicycle deliverer I lost some weight...

@Akka: No, it's not certainly not a joke. It does not, however, apply to people under 20 years of age or so.

@BassDude726: You'd be worried if your body fat wasn't quite so deep below recommended levels? Each his own, I guess ...

20.8 BMI

Well, I'm not overweight... I guess that's good.

Okay.

So you tell me that this guy is in a life-threatening situation because of dangerous lack of weight ? :hmm:
(BMI about 19)

23.4, which is normal. Its really good considering that in the begining of January I was at 27.

Height: 6'2''
Weight: 183 lbs

That something correlates with early death doesn't mean that everyone having it, or even most people having it, are in a life-threatening situation. To take an extreme example, being male correlates with early death. Nonetheless, being a man doesn't necessarily mean you're in a life-threatening situation right now.
