This thread is a compilation of the turn summaries written during term 3. Since the summaries are all in different threads it was suggested they be placed together in one thread.

I am continuing this thread into term 4 with President Chieftess' summaries :)

A short history of Phoenatica

Since we hope to get into the habit of having turn summaries I thought it would be appropriate to start this thread off with a short history of our country's first five thousand years.

Our first city, Fox Nest, was founded about 5,000 years ago. As our population grew we sent settlers out to colonize the surrounding area. The great sea was to the west and south was very hilly. There were mountains to the north and the sea as well so our settlers looked to the east. There were fine lands in that direction but they were settled by the Americans.

We had warriors scouting the outlying areas in those days and they discovered many other countries. Some of these countries thought Phoenatica was weak. One, Babylon, even threatened our leaders and demanded maps of Phoenatica. Our leaders wisely refused, knowing that surrendering our maps might lead to invasion. The rebuff enraged the Babylonian King who declared war on Phoenatica. The Babylonian King bribed another country to join the war against Phoenatica and this country bribed another and so on until Phoenatica stood alone against the Domino Alliance.

Most of the early fighting in the Domino Wars was in America as our mighty immotals set out to defend Phoenatica. Soon, a great leader, Charis, formed an army of immortals which conquered America and Egypt as well.

During the Domino Wars our country began a great project in Fox Nest. A Great Library that was meant to store the knowledge of the entire world. Despite the wars, the Great Library was completed bringing much knowledge to Phoenatica through the ages.

Once the Domino Wars ended, Phoenaticans turned their energies towards trading and building up a fine culture. The old monarchy gave way to a republican form of government and peace became the norm. Phoenatica was once more the target of a foreign war when the Aztecs attacked. Other countries remembered the fate of the Americans and Egyptians in the Domino Wars and the Aztecs were unable to find allies. The Aztec war was short and Montezuma sued for peace after losing the city of Tlaxcala and having his iron mines destroyed by Phoenatican knights.

As Phoenatica looks toward the dawn of a new era she is at peace with her neighbors while the citizens of foreign tyrannies beg to join the Phoenatican republic!

The New Age Has Dawned!

We finally made contact with the *English* in 1130 AD thanks to our friend Shaka and our new right of passage deal with Zululand. As soon as communications with this strange new people was established we managed to double the size of our treasury! We did this by giving Elizabeth a letter of introduction to Ceasar and teaching the English about our new republican form of government (we threw in a lesson on vetos for free). Along with the English gold we acquired a map of the England lands. They live on an island all by themselves! The English maps also revealed three previously unknown islands, all of which are very small. Two are occupied by India and one by the Iroquois. We also arranged to export our extra gems. The competition for these high quality gems was pretty stiff between Ghandi and Hiawatha but the latter came up with more gold and was awarded the deal. The gem imports broght over 100 gold into our treasury along with another 4 gold/turn. We also acquired *free artistry* in the deal.
In the year 1140, Magellan (the Iroquois) managed to sail completely around the world! On the home front, Port Gisnod completed an aqueduct while workers were dispatched to Khatovar and Callisto to improve the lot of those living in these cities.
Ten years later San Fransico completed its own water works system while Khatovar opened our nation's third bank. Phoenatica's financial recovery continued as the treasury reached gold.
A *theory of gravity* was formulated in 1160. The residents of Callisto built a wall all around their city! PDX had earlier been chosen as the site of Phoenatica's next great project and there was much debate about just what this project should be. By the slimmest of margins and in what is sure to be a controversial decision, culture won out over science and a great theatre was begun in PDX. That same year spice exports to England were begun and English *wines* began flowing into Phoenatican ports. As part of the trade agreement Phoenatican engineers were sent to train Englanders in thier science. Elizabeth also insisted that we teach her all about monarchy. (It seems she does not like the veto clause that comes with republicanism.) Spices and incense exports to Iroquoisland were also commenced at this time. In return, Hiawatha agreed to pay 11 gold/turn and sent Iroquoian artisans to teach our people the fine art of metal working. The President categorically denied that the increased spice exports had anything to do with the fact that the founder of the Spice Traders Guild is now VP.
In 1170 AD Shakespeare's Theatre opened in PDX with the play *The Merchant of Fox Nest*. Abydos completed a courthouse while Pherris laid the cornerstone of what is hoped will be a great university.
1180 was a quiet year except for the sounds of the *rifles* heard near the Greek border. The Civil Defence Board reminded the President that Phoenatica still has spearmen.
The decade of the 1190s saw the completion of a temple in Elephantine, a cathedral in New York and an aqueduct in Miami.
Our peace treaty with Greece was renewed in 1200 even as the sound of *rifles* was being heard on the Iroquoian border. A deal was struck with Ceasar wherein we exported horses to Rome in return for military tradition.
Lobbying by the War Church and Civil Defense Board resulted in the authorization of a military academy in PDX in 1210 and work was started on the project.
The 1220s saw the completion of Shailonegha's library and the understanding og magnetism. A great wave of patriotism and nationalism spear over Phoenatica as well.
Byblos built a temple in 1230 and Malinalco completed a cathedral soon after. Eyr opened Phoenatica's fourth bank and the Phirst Phoenatican Cavalry Regiment was recruited in Philadelphia. There are strange tracks inside Greece... BTW, we lost our gems near Tlaxcala! They are niside Greek borders again!
Phoenatica's fiscal recovery is well underway as the treasury now stands above 1300 gold. Both Smith's Trading Co. and the Forbidden Palace will be complete within 30 years bringing further boosts to our treasury. We are still a bit behind in technology but are gaining fast. Things are looking up!

1230 AD. A highlight in the Age of Trade is upon us, and changes are already taking place! After a lengthy naming cerimony, Washington was bestowed with the name, Valhall, and Tlaxcala was renamed, Cyrus. A few diplomats managed to sail accross the seas in their caravels, and offered England 84 gold to build a fine embassy in London. A review of London showed that they have all 8 luxuries. 3 spearmen and 2 pikemen units were seen walking through the streets. Once the embassy was established, General Falcon ordered the retirement of our 2 oldest Phoenatican Defense Units - Spearmen; 1 each in Byblos and Civantoria. A cerimony took place in the city of PDX, where the Queen of England even sent a diplomat to give a speech! One of our musketmen units from Philladelphia was ordered to head out to Thebes, to protect the Forbidden Palace that was still under construction. This decade also saw massive trading with the Zulus, who just recovered from their long economic depression, Greece, and India.

Ten years have passed and General Falcon is worried about the state of our military. "Other nations have guns on horseback! And along our borders too! Whilst our horsemen are still carrying swords!", exclaimed Falcon. At his command, 15 units were sent to Fox Nest, Civantoria, and Memphis to be trained as Cavalry. 3 units were kept at the borders to add in a "defensive show of force". Another decade would follow, and 7 knight units were trained as cavalry.

Some time later, a diplomat from India came, informing that our Silks for Ivory deal was about to expire! We asked to renew the trade, and India agreed, with a cost of 80 gold for India to ship their silks to us. Some years following that deal, another celebration started in Fox Nest. A trading company, founded by a former Spice Traders Guild executive, started a business that would pay for all buildings that deal with trade! The company is known as the Smith's Trading Company. It netted us a 23 GPT surplus! Five years later, our leaders started setting up their offices in Thebes. The announce came that the Forbidden Palace has been completed! This netted us 66 GPT more in addition to Smith's Trade (89 GPT total - including trade from other nations).

But, with the news of Smith's Trade, other nations started work on Newton's University. The University was completed in Nineveh, Babylon. Also of note in this illustrious decade, 8 more knight units were trained as cavalry. In the following 5 years, they moved accross the land, to the bordertowns. In 1265, our FA visited the embassies of Indian and Iroquios, and gifted them with 2 GPT. This greatly improved our relations with our neighbors! 5 years later, we were informed that Greece has signed a MPP with our allies, India.

We have made great strides in the modernization of our military forces. All our knights have been upgraded and we have only one musketman unit to upgrade! We have 27 riflemen and 23 cavalry. Still to be upgraded are 27 pikemen and 2 catapults.
This was accomplished because of the boost to our economy from Wall St. and our trade department. The bad news on the trading front is that our wine import deal with England has ended. Citizens in Atlanta rioted when the pubs closed for lack of wines. We do hope the trade department can re-establish a deal soon. We are still selling gems to Hiawatha for a pittance and that deal should be ended post haste!
On the tech front we have learned industrialization and are currently looking into the science of medicine which we hope to have mastered in about 15 years.
Our first factories will be built in Fox Nest and Civanatoria and the latter city will then begin an iron works project. Pherris is building a military academy and PDX is agitating for universal suffrage. Much railroading is being done around PDX in an effort to make Phoenatica the first country to grant universal suffrage.
Many other railroading projects are in the works thanks to our governors' response to our domestic leader's call for workers. The National Employment Program (NEP) is working on railroads between Fox Nest and Eyr, Khatovar and Malinalco, Valhall and Atlanta, Seattle and San Francisco, Memphis and Abydos, Thebes and Heliopolis, Heliopolis and Alexandria and between Chondote and Cyrus.

Greece declared war on the Iroquois! It did not take long for most of the Greek forces in Kashmir to enter Iroquois territory. Most of the fighting was done around Oka. The Greeks lost 5 riflemen and 5 swordmen in the final assualt that captured the city. There was also a pitched battle between Iroquois and Greek riflemen inside Ashpinxia! India entered the war on the side of Greece and they soon lost Hierconpolis to the Iroquois. The war rages on but most foreign units have left our borders.

On the home front the domestic department authorized the quick completion of a factory in Civanatoria and a great ironworks project is now underway in that city. We renegotiated peace with Babylon for 80 gold, and cancelled our gem imports to Hiawatha. In return for incense, saltpeter and plans for our new factories Shaka showed us how to use electricity! We reopened the wine route to England. We sent Elizabeth some spices and taught her the secrets of navigation so she can safely leave her island! We gave Ceasor ivory and he is now polite.
A university was rushed in Cyrus in 1315. Many other cities built improvements as listed below. We continued our military upgrades starting with our catapults. About a half dozen pikemen have been upgraded. Universal suffrage will be complete in PDX in 8 turns. Work on our national railway network progressed nicely as several small railroads began operations.
We mastered the secrets of medicine and began work on a new method for making scientific investigations. At this point it was suggested that medicine be sold. Some agreed, some did not and another called for a forum discussion on the matter. The latter minority view prevailed and it is the president's hope that our energies will be spent on deciding a comprehensive plan for building our wonders rather than on investigations.

The long awaited opening of the Phoenatic Phoreign Physicals & Pharmacolgy (PPP&P) a division of Tech Sales, Inc. with branch ophices in Pherris and Philadelphia, came in 1340 AD. There was a long line of customers that first day of business. Hiawatha was first in line and he paid 70 gold and 14 gpt for the services of PPP&P. He also taught us about a strange government called communism and showed us how to better organize our business ventures into corporations. Hamurabi was next in line and he paid for his physical with 120 gold and furs. Gandhi was next in line. Knowing how much he is know to jack up the price of his silks and realizing our silk for ivory deal is about to expire, we charge Gandhi 100 gold up front and 52 gpt for his physical. Gandhi's best buddy Alex was next in line and we charged him 20 gold down and 44 gpt. Ceasar and Shaka were last in line but they had no gold. We told them to get some health insurance and come back later. Mao and Elizabeth apparently couldn't read the invitations PPP&P sent out.
Universities were opened in Thebes, Abydos. Alexandria and Heliopolis. President donsig proposed naming these colleges after Curufinwe, Punkbass2000, Justus II and Cyc. This group to be henceforth known as the Four Horsemen of the Acropolis. (Hey, that's as cultural as I get!)
Philadelphia contributed greatly to the National Employment Program (NEP) by recruiting 3 or 4 workers. Justinian and Plexia recruited military units as the President wondered where certain governors where...
We are 8 tiles away from having Fox Nest and Thebes connected to each other and 16 other cities by the the National Railway System (NRS). Three more tiles will bring much of Ameri onto the NRS.
Paville (a suburb of Seattle) was founded on the bay. this city was named by Chiefpaco.
We have learned scientific method and have started working on the theory of evolution in Fox Nest. It will be done in 16 turns or less. he military academy in Pherris will be ready in 6 turns and we are still 4 turns away from granting universal suffrage in PDX.
We have stocked up on gold: our treasury now stands at 2044 gold.
Hiawatha asked for an alliance against Greece and we refused. The Greeks have captured Gandasetaigon from the Iroquois.

The War Widens!

The Iroquois allied with the Chinese against the Greeks. Then in a move reminiscant of the ancient Domino War, China alllied with Rome against Greece! Five countries were now involved in the Iroquios-Greek war. Greece and India against the Iroquois and China, with Rome at war with Greece. While not involved formally, Phoenatica did halt ivory exports to Greece.
Philadelphia continued to recruit workers for the NEP. The President called a cabinet vote during the chat to halt Philadelphia's produciton of NEP workers before the city disappeared! The cabnet members present approved the building of a granary in Philadelphia. The absence of certain governors was the cause of much constitutional debate. Builds in Justinian, Paville and Chondote were finally over-ridden by the Culture Ministry. The domestic leader allocated CAP funds for rushing the new projects in Paville (library) and Chondote (temple). Elephantine also opened its university while a cathedral was completed in New Falcon's Haven. 1365 also saw the upgrade of our last musktmen unit to riflemen. Two importand links were made in the National Railway System. The Fox Nest to Seattle line was completed as was the Justinian to Abydos line.
In 1370 Hiawatha and Gandhi smoked the peace pipe as the former declared, "We will fight no more for we are all Indians!" There was no peace on the other front. Chinese riders beat back Greek forces near Cumae and inside Iroquoisland while Roman knights sacked Rhodes and burned it to the ground! In light of this shocking event we renegotiated out trade deals with the Iroquois. We end up continuing our exports of incense, spices and dyes to Iroquoisland and in addition paid Hiawatha 575 gold for the secret of replaceable parts. immediately upon gaining this secret our domestic leader allocated funds for General Falcon's modernization plans and 17 riflemen units were ulgraded to infantry. Shortly thereafter Babylon also declared war on Greece as an ally of China. The University of Memphis opened in 1375 AD.
Five years later, President donsig went on a whistle-stop tour of the country on the new NRS. At a stop in PDX the President granted all citizens the right to vote irregardless of their ip address. (Some say this was an attempt to sway certain recent investigations but the President denied this charge, noting that he was found guilting any way by a hung jury.) In honor of the President's recent emanication proclamation two American workers were allowed to settle in Philadelphia.
Our scientists leaned much about sanitation in 1385. Our military academy will open in five years while theory of evolution will be ready in 40 years. No one else is working on this important theory...

Happy Days are here again...

In 1385 AD Greece took Cumae and we entered into a trade embargo against Alex with China, Babylon, Rome, the Zulus and the Iroquois. We also gave the Iroquois 3 gpt to help thier war effort. All this combined to make Hiawatha polite towards aour ambassador. We sold saltpeter to Hammurabi for 11 gold and the sectrsts of espionage. In that year our elite immortals road the National Railway System (NRS) to their new posts in Fox Nest, Thebes, PDX, San Francisco, Justinian and Cyrus. These revered units now form the core of the Phoenatic Secret Service (PSS), the main duty of which is to protect our president, leaders and governors.
Our military academy was completed in Pherris in 1390, the same year England joined the war against Greece. The NRS neared co,pletion as only Chie, Plexia and Lutetia remain to be connected to the rail net.
War news, 1395: Rome occupies Eretria while victorious Iroquoian riflemen produce a great leader! Byzantium snubs Hammurabi and begs to join Phoenatica! We happily accept this city into our republic. 460 gold is spent upgrading our cannons and 15 rifleman regiments.
Greece lost Cumae to the Romans in 1400 and Alex soon came to terms with Hiawatha. The Chinese city of Tiensten (near Chondote) was destroyed soon after. The last of our riflemen we upgraded at this time. The Aztecs declared war on Greece in 1405 while many citizens of Chondote packed their things and headed for the greener pastures where Tiensten once was. An army of Iroquoian riflemen was spotted about this time near Hieraconpolis.
We extended our trade embargo against Greece in 1410 by signing agreements with England and the Aztecs. This came in response to the Grrek reoccupation of Cumae. We sold saltpeter to the Aztecs for their WM and 16 gpt. Began incense exports to Babylon for 50 gold and 24 gpt. Also that year, the PSS immortals were given fine swords made of steel.
In 1415 we settled a new city on the coast NE of Chondote. In honor of the great strides made in technology recently this city will be named by the current leader of the NSD. The Romans occupied Cumae once again.
Our wine imports ceased in 1420 causing riots in Memphis. Despite this awkward beginning 1420 proved to be an historic year for Phoenatica as the theories of evolution and atomic structure were presented to a special meeting of the NSD at the Great Library in Fox Nest. This scientific burst of energy resulted in the perfectin of electronic devices by Phoenatic industry. Industry was also active in Ameri as Civanatoria, as if to honor the founder of the NSD, completed the ironworks! In Normandy, the great city of PDX completed its factory while more great projects are contemplated for that city...

Time marches on!

We reopened the wine route to England at the end of 1425 AD by teaching Elizabeth about the medicinal traits of alcohol. This brought an end to the riots in Memphis. We also upgraded 6 regiments of pikemen to infantry. That put us up to 45 infantry with 16 pikemen still on the military department's payroll. Greece and China made peace even while Gandhi asked us to ally against the Chinese. We declined to enter the alliance. :)
Phoenatica's first hospital was opened in PDX in 1430 and that city immediately began work on another great project, the Hoover Dam. A branch of the Great Library was opened in CSIM, the city named by Strider which is near Chondote. The Greeks actually asked us to ally with them in a war against England! It was very difficult to keep a straight face during these 'negotiations'. Rome allied with India in the war against China.
We hired four Greek workers for 89 gold in 1440. That year we also renewed our fur imports from Babylon but had to tech Hammurabi the scientific method to seal the deal. We also sold scientific method to the Aztecs for 30 gold and 19 gpt. Renewed our saltpeter exports to Zululand for 350 gold and 2 gpt. Five years later Pherris began forming a new army and Fox Nest commenced construction of the Phoenatic Intelligence Agency (PIA). Near the end of 1445 elite Greek cavalry once again occupied Cumae. The Aztecs joined an alliance with India against the Chinese. On the home front a strange orange goo covered the plains near Civanatoria.
The year 1450 was another for the businessmen. We sold incense to Shaka for 110 gold and 9 gpt. Practically doubled the price of our ivory and incense exports to the Aztecs. They were paying 8 gpt, we upped it to 15 gpt with 30 gold up front. India had been paying 18 gpt for our ivory but we changed that to 500 up front. Ghandi wouldn't part with his silks unless we taught him how we make large cities so we passed on the silks.
The Romans ejected the Greeks from Cumae once more in 1455. We founded a new city near the old location of Rhodes. The Greeks attacked Cumae again in 1460 and we dispatched cavalry in an attempt to keep this poor city from changing hands again. This resulted in our citizens calling for the creation of specialized battlefield medical techniques. Our scientists also learned to refine crude oil. We have three sources within our borders and one (near Anyang) is connected. Our scientists immediately began work on a use for this refined oil.

WAR!!!

In 1475, Our newest city was donned with the name, Phoenix's Den. General Falcon also headed a massive upgrade program of our 16 pikemen to infantrymen. 14 were trained that year, 2 were trained 5 years later. Falcon was quoted saying to a new recruit, who adamantly refused to be an infantryman: "Our military needs to be up to date. If you disagree, you sign up for one of the Pike units and face the enemy's Cavs and Tanks and see if your opinions remain the same."

In 1480, Greece signed a peace treaty with England and the Aztecs. On the homefront, a sole Greecian infantryman was seen around Memphis. This so unnerved General Falcon, that he asked their commander to retreat back to Greece. The infantryman was asked to leave, and the Greeks declared war! That Pikeman who questioned Falcon must be feeling sheepish now...

Don't mess with Phoenatica!

1480 AD and we were at war with Greece. After redeploying our defenses (using 2 regular infantry in our 15 border cities and vet immortals in our west coast cities) we sent out five regiments of cavalry to scout the Greek cities in Kashmir. They also pillaged a Greek horse supply. We found that all the Greek cities were defended by infantry except for Thessalonica which was garrisoned by hoplites. We dispatched a few cavalry and our elite immortals to that city. The actual opening shots of the war were those of our artillery shelling Oka. We sent in four regiments of cavalry to take that city and they succeeded though one regiment was lost. After capturing that city we formed two attack groups of 8 vet infantry and 6 vet cavalry each and sent them to Ephesus and Herakleia. We lost two ofour scouting cavalry in 1485 as our troops continued to advance on the Greek cities.
In 1490 we bombarded Ephesus, which is on a hill, and were then able to take the city using two cavlary regiments of which one was lost. Herakleia was much tougher and we lost five cavalry and an infantry before occupying that city. The Greeks were also able to reinforce Thessalonica with infantry before our elite immortals arrived. The Phoenatic Intelligence Agency (PIA) was opened in 1495 and around that time our scientists mastered the science of combustion.
The Battle of Thessalonica was fought in 1495. A regiment of cavalry opened the assault and defeated the recently arrived Greek infantry. The defense of the city was deep as evidenced by the remaining conscript infantry. Our elite immortals, the very same regiments once commanded by President Grey Fox in the Domino Wars, stood ready. One by one these ancient regiments attacked the city, steel blades flashing. The first in was nearly wiped out by the Greek infantry but their experience paid off as they held their ground while the fresh conscripts withered. The second regiment also faced newly drafted Greek infantry and the result was the same! The third of our elite immortals faced hoplites which proved to be no match for Phoenatic steel! The fourth immortal faced longbowmen and captured the city! Our immortals had beaten Greek infantry and all with out loss. Two regiments of elite immortals were left standing outside Thessalonica with no one to fight! The two regiments of elites that lead the assault are now guarding Fox Nest.
Spurred on by this epic battle (and the artillery rolling out of Phoenatic factories) President donsig advanced on Delphi from the north and the south. The Greeks once again occupied Cumae in 1500. The President almost burst a vein when our cavalry failed to dislodge the Greek riflemen in Cumae. He was heard to cry, "Where are my immortals? They would sheath their swords in the beating hearts of these riflemen!" Taking a respite in PDX (the happiest city in the world) the President decided it was time to sell the secrets of atomic theory since our great project was but 25 years from completion. The sale brought in 680 gold plus 315 gpt! Included in the Indian deal was our new supply of extra gems for Gandhi's silks. More gold was poured into research and developement...
Cumae was finally annexed by Phoenatica a few years later. The few remaining Chinese citizens welcomed our troops into their war torn city.
Rome and China made peace in 1510. Five years later our industrial scientists perfected a system of mass production for our factories. A means of motorized transportation is our next goal. The attack on Delphi also occurred in 1515. Despite a heavy artillery bombardment we lost a cavalry and two infantry in taking the city. Sensing the end of Alexander the Great;s empire, Hammurabi managed to ally with both Hiawatha and Elizabeth and soon England and the Iroquois entered the war agianst Greece.
In 1525 our forces lost the race to the Greek capital of Knossos. Even as we stood outside the city, Babylonian infantry occupied it. Hoover Dam was completed in PDX shortly thereafter. Upon its completion President donsig retired even as massive amounts of Iroquois riflemen entered our lands on their way to Greece...

Turn chat 1480 AD (June 29)

We have achieved peace

In 1525, the Greecian war continued. Our cities started calling in the reservists as infantry and artillery were being produced. Our troops, including artillery, advanced towards Corinth, and our immortals provided an "escort" for the Iroquois SoD, which was an effort to save a few turns. The years rolled on, and in 1530, a major battle took place for the city of Corinth. Our artillery were able to severely damage the Greek Infantryman. Another 3 of our cavalry and 1 infantryman perished in the face of intense resistence while attempting to take the city. We are down to our last cavalry, who defeated an elite infantryman in that city. Cumae was also connected by rails to aid the war effort, and the people of Delphi started to riot in protest on the war against Greece. Our Domestic Leader, Cyc, was reported as saying "Give 'em some wines!". Five years later, the Iroquois luanched their massive assualt on Sparta. Amazingly, the Greecian forces held, leaving one elite infantry, and the Iroquois were beaten back. The "Escort Strategy" worked, as the SoD was not there to serve as a backup to the forces. A Roman riflemen, instead of attacking the city of Corinth, attacked a band of Greek archers on the mountainside, and won! The Aztecs are also moving through our lands, with mostly cavalry, towards China. At that time, our scientists found a way to make 'armored horseless carriages'. These new weapons look like huge tin cans with an artillery on the roof, and chained-wheels on the bottom. We also continue the assault on corinth. One infantry dies, but we end up taking the city. Our sights turned to Sparta. We only had enough forces for 2 artillery, and 2 immortals, with an infantry escort. One of the elite immortals attacked, and defeated an infantry! At the end of that year, a city was founded east of Fox Nest. In 1540, our attack on Sparta was launched. A cavalry attacked, but was beaten back and defeated. Undeterred by the minor defeat, an Elite Immortal attacked a weakened (3 HP) Elite Infantryman, and won! The person credited for his amazing battle tactics was Darius, and was promoted to the rank of Great Leader! Darius quickly fled to Fox Nest, where he will be teaching the Immortals there before his next assignment. The Greeks were down to their last city on the continent. (They still have one, their capital, on an island!) Sensing an oppurtunity, our citizens voted to see if Alex would give us Pharsalos, 10 gold, a worker, their world map and territory map. Alex complied with the terms for surrender. The war is over.

Turn chat 1525 AD (July 3)

1540 marked the start of a rather quiet era of peace. Rails and roads continued to be built as the new province continued to grow. 5 years later, a ragtag team of Aztec troops were seen bumbling their way through our territory. We were thinking of having our tanks escort their swordsman... In 1550, the Aztecs took Canton, which apparently had a coal source they needed. (They signed a peace treaty with China 5 years later) Our citizens were also content with the peace and decided it was time for a new government! Very little happened during the next few decades. The only major even of note was the 'round-the-world journey of an English Man'O'War and galley in 1570! In 1575, Pharsalos was connected, and 5 years later, our people wrote a new constitution and declared Phoenatica as a democracy! 10 years later, the city next to Fox Nest was donned 'Tirion'. Another city awaiting a name was also built in 1590. Greece is still at war with with Rome, England, Iroquois, and Babylon.

POST GREECIAN WAR

The war with the Greeks is over! We have filled all of the province of Kashmir, and half of our new province of Scythia. A Great Leader, Darius, rose from the ranks of our Elite Immortal division when fighting elite infantry in Cumae. This leader helped to build our U.N. in Khatovar! The next few decades where ominously peaceful, even though we spent many years creating a new constitution and setting up a Democracy.

MODERNIZATION

We have recently entered the modern age, and already have the UN built, thanks to Darius. A new calculation method, which our scientist call a 'computer', is being developed in our scientific centers. Fox Nest is gathering supplies in anticipation of the SETI wonder. This wonder, apparently, uses these 'computers' to search for intelligent life outside of our world, or so our scientists say. Our research was going smoothly, until one day....

THE IROQUOIS BLITZ PDX!!

In 1620, the Iroquois abused our ROP agreement, and sacked our most productive city, PDX. We were able to reclaim it, and efforts are underway to rebuild the city. We have turned our tanks and artillery towards two huge Iroquois stacks which have crossed the border near Mephis. We are clearly being invaded! The irony of it is that the Greeks, then the 4th most powerful nation, invaded the Iroquois, and lost. Now, the Iroquois, the 2nd most powerful nation, is invading us, the most powerful nation in the world! General Falcon has also drawn up the battle plans, and we are ready to attack during tonight's (July 17th) turn chat. More news will follow this major battle.

The pre-dawn light was just breaking over the horizon as our troops retook PDX. In Asphinxia, ghostly silhouettes appeared as sunlight gleaned over the white sands of Delphi. Strange voices could be heard in the distance, then a messanger arrived. "President Hiawatha of the Iroquois has issued a declaration of war!". War has once again come to our doorsteps. Emergency meetings were made that morning in the war room. General Falcon ordered all tank units to Mephis. Fortunately, our artillery units were already in the area when the invasion occured. Noon came, and it was clear that these units were indeed, Iroquois! General Falcon launched Operation Retribution, and ordered all artillery units in Thebes to defend Mephis. The artillery started shelling the Iroquois stacks, one to the north, and another to the south. The Iroquois suffered heave losses as our tanks came in to push the Iroquois back. Many of our fine soilders were promoted that day for their valiant effort in defending Phoenatica. After the shelling and victory over the first wave, the General ordered an attack on St. Regis. The war took the forefront, as the naming cerimony for Robinville took little notice. Five years later, in 1625 AD, St. Regis was under the control of our tanks. A second Iroquois stack was spotted entering the area of Mephis! They apparently planned to take much of our lands. Shelling once again commenced, and our now elite units took the charge. One inspiring soilder, Cyrus, was promoted and sent to Fox Nest, were he would start work on a future project, SETI. This year also saw our first casualty after defeating dozens of Iroquois rifleman. An elite tank unit perished defending the front lines. There were also 2 Iroquois workers which we picked up to work on our roads, and to clear the jungle around Alexandria, of whose people are suffering from Jungle Fever. Once the stack was destroyed, the shelling of Heiraconpolis started five years later, and the last of the Iroquois invasion force was defeated. In 1635, another elite tank unit was defeated while taking the city. Hieraconpolis is ours, and we found another group of Iroquois workers, and an artillery unit. Our industrious workers spent the next five years connecting Hieraconpolis by rails, and our tanks fought in some minor skirmishes around the city. Another leader was promoted from those ranks, Achaemenes. Hangchow was also taken in quick succession, along with five workers. In 1645, the war spread. The Iroquois and Chinese signed an allience against us! Our leaders are again assessing the new turn of events.

THE IROQUOIS WARS

Our tanks have pushed back the Iroquois advance, and produced 2 Great Leaders, which built the U.N. and SETI. Iroquois cities are falling one by one to our tanks. Public opinion says that we will take cities up to Salamanca, Niagara Falls, and even Cattaraugus before suing for peace. Recently, the Iroquois brought China into the conflict. China had an MPP with the Zulus (who in turn had one with Rome). Both deals are now expired, and there is public opinion on taking some Chinese cities, one of which has the Great Lighthouse - one of the most ancient wonders!

PROVINCIAL EXPANSION

Our wars have opened up two new provinces in the Iroquois lands. They are known now as "Province 10", and the "Undefined Province", as borders are just being drawn for that province. There are currently 3 canidates up for governorship: BCLG, Myartar, and Stuck_As_A_Mac. The two public opion polls have them in a very tight race. Both provinces look to grow as the war nears its' end.

RUMBLES FROM THE SOUTH

Recently, there has been an increased activity of Zulu galleons, yes, galleons in our southern waters (the inner sea). The Zulus reportedly do not have coal and oil. This is a developing situation which will need to be watched closely. In other news, our culture victory is now estimated at 1862. With increased research labs, our victory may be sooner.

1680 - Our tank platoons rolled into Xinjiang, suprised at the very ancient technology still in use. The city gave very little resistance as our small regiment started teaching them the ways of our nation. Our citizens decided in good will to help the people of St. Regis, and helped build a library there! Now they will be able to read of the great wars in our history. Years later, our assualt force landed in Northern China, and was greated by yet another Pikeman! Ayang was also given a renaming cerimony. It was renamed: Arrakis. The STG is reported to be moving their HQ to that city. Fox Nest will still be the northern branch. In the following years, cities were taken in quick succession: Allegheny, Cattaraugug, Tsingtao, Shanghai. In 1695, we signed a peace treaty with the Irouois, and goes Ganogeh and Marathon as part of the deal. In 1700 AD, The city of Enkephalonika was built. Map-makers were said to have redrawn their maps 561 times before they got the name right! The next 20 years were spend introducing our culture to the war torn provinces. Our people are even starting to move into the areas, and the world is once again at peace.
