I never knew this excisted. if there are any tribes here, or there is a ladder, please tell me.

It's our new home. (Whenever I get around to starting the page.) it will be much nicer. I got a game with Suntzu but we never seem to match up on nights anymore. But we will finish!!!

can i suggest you construct that ladder, where all players start with zero points up to unlimited? that works best. the gameleague system is fraud because everyone starts with 1000 points and if you loose you go beneath it. contact me for some ideas about that new ladder thing

The ladder is already made and games have started to be played. What are your suggestions? I could start at 0 if you prefer, not much difference to me. i suggest you make 6 formulas for a pointing system. 1 for 2 players, 1 for 3 players, 1 for 4players, 5,6 and 7 players.
then in the formula you predict the out come of the game based upon the difference in their ranks. you multiply this to the maximum points someone can get in a game and add it to his old score. you can automate this easily. the difficulcy is to make the formulas for 3 to 7 players. because how do you predict the outcome of a player in a 7 player game, based upon their score?
 
I'm very happy to see that there is an alternative for gameleague/cases. There are a lot of things that could be better then gameleague. Spicies (woke) already told you that the point system is wrong in gameleague. I agree with that. I think it would be a good idea if there is a point system with 2 classes. One for newbies and one for advandged players.

But first; maybe you could tell us something about the history of Fanatics. How long does this civ-site exist? Are you willing to make (big)changes, if players ask for it?

Are you talking about the ladder? Or the site in general? The ladder just started and we are part the way through our first game but no one else is challenging anyone.

But the rules and points systems can be discussed. But I would prefer if we went no higher than a 4 player game. Anymore will get too diffucult to organize with all the players. I wasn't games to be fun an quick. If possible.

So then who decides who is a newbie and who is an advanced player? I view you as a newbie but I'm sure you don't view yourself that way. I bet there's a few people out there (it's always possible) that think you're advanced. Or do you just allow people to choose themselves if they're advanced or beginner? In that case how do you keep beginners from signing up for the advanced ladder and advanced players from signing up for the beginner's ladder? Doesn't sound like a very plausible idea to me.
 
I'm sorry, I wasn't aware only certain people were allowed to post their opinions. And for your information I've been here quite some time.
 
actually, the lowest ranked advanced players, should be bumped down to the minors.

and highest ranked newbies, drafted to the advanced league.

My impression is that there aren't enough games played through to completion to even warrent a ladder, unless on a small map with a limited number of players. I know that the people here at CivFanatics really want to encourge play esp. human to human, but for THIS particular game, I think some more creative approaches are called for. Ideas, anyone ?

There is a fantasy land now corrupted, but in this land people play! People have great games with many players, all human! We have great battles between competitive teams, and we have a ladder with hundreds of players, all very skilled at their art. This wonderous place has advanced civ to a new level, well beyond any prior conception of the game.

This fantasy realm is the world of Apolyton and Game League. Marvel at their wonderous advances, but beware there are downsides that accompany the civ advances.

Ok everyone, we have a ladder it's the civfanatics.com ladder. We're starting a tribe at gameleague.
U post about apolyton and civfanatics.com being the same i'll delete it. In my forums i am the all and powerful dictator!
So no more fighting, Cornmaster made the ladder and he will make the rules

There are many places to find games if you're resourceful that's for sure.

If you like civ, and the idea of playing with human opponents, you WILL find a game. No doubt about it.

All this talk of Apolyton comparisons is kinda dumb. Yes, the format of the forums is very similar. Why? Because it is a very efficient system to use. To those that have been around awhile, they'll remember the old forum system. It wasn't nearly as effective. In fact it kinda blew (no offense TF!). The webmaster here does a tremendous job with the site and has done a very fine job to improve this forum. I know he doesn't want to "take out" Apolyton or anything like that. It's just another place to go for civ information, and we all know that you can't go wrong by doing so.
 
Being a definite newbie here (tho not to the game itself) i am interested in getting into this ladder. will someone kindly explain the concept and how i get to participate. Thanks
