Things you'd like to see in the next patch / expansion / civ game

I was actually making the exact point you just did :p. My point though was that my system compensates for the flaws in the game. I initially ran the game on a 5 - 6 year old computer. It worked with relatively few crashes, but slowed down tremendously as the game progressed.

Another thing I forgot to mention that I'd like to see would be better terrain generators. When you select continent formation for the world layout you usually get two large continents of relatively equal size and maybe one Island. It'd be nice to see more variety, a couple of continents perhaps with some smaller islands.

The SmartMap mod has some interesting options, very different feel from the Firaxis generation algorithms, and has lots of flexibility.

The smartmap does produce more variety in actual continent shapes, numbers and sizes, but I hate to say it, the content of these continents is just awful, it's like someone splatter painted them, a few blobs of jungle here, right by the tundra etc, it just looks random...

Does anyone know of any map generator that produces maps that are more "organic", for lack of a better word?

Expansion: I'd like borders to lock at nationalism to prevent third party culture attacking.

CivV: I'd like the fat-cross reviewed, and replaced with a system that makes for more varied city placement.

Tectonics does, but it has its own, predictable problems as far as gameplay goes. Since hills are almost always clumped together, sometimes you get a start position that has next to no production and little hope for ever getting a city with any sort of production. Or you could be stranded in mountain land with very little food and a crapload of hills you can't work unless you windmill them. The start positions seem pretty poor too. Like that Cyrus game where I got dumped in tundra...

Some not natural disasters would be nice things like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tidal waves

I definetly want to see some sort of civil war element introduced it would add an extra dimension to the game and make things like civics changes and religious splits in your empire more consequential.

Game Management issues:

1) the ability to select injured units in a stack with one button, similar to using CTRL+left mouse click to select the same type of units.
2) Warlords tried to fix the unit list when you mouse over, instead of the useless "..." at the bottom when you had more units than it could list in vanilla civ, but what happened to the old civ3 list? Just make a list you can scroll through with the mouse wheel, with the number of units at the top. Not that complicated.
3) I cannot for the life of me find the option that allows me to see enemy fighter/bomber battles/raids. I can see enemy movements and fights w/ ground units, but all I get is a long list at the beginning of the turn of fighter interceptions and improvement bombings at the beginning of the turn in the modern era.
3a) On a related note, howabout letting the used fighters either remain in the air after they intercept, or making you select them next turn if they lost HP? They still remain on intercept but they are not flying circles around cities, so it's kind of confusing.

That's all I can think of right now. Is anyone from Firaxis reading this?

Scenario-wise, I'd like to see a simulation of the Opium Wars. Not sure how to implement this - China had a huge population, but large corruption & stagnation problems; the foreign powers had the tech, but smaller presences & they didn't really get along with each other; but even so, it seems like an asymmetric scenario.

Oh que t'as raison mon pote!
I 800% agree with you: since I've ckecked the "see enemy moves" option I would like to be able to see every enemy airplane's attack/interception!!!

Firaxis people please read this!!!

It looks like a bug to me ;)

- AIs give priority attacking their neighbours, especially before modern age. I'm sick of dealing with enemies coming from 30+ tiles away crossing 4 borders.
- Finding a way to reduce the linearity of tech research. For example, increasing the cost of techs in one arm (e.g. scientific techs) when you are advanced in the techs in another arm (e.g. religious techs)... so tech trade becomes more important.
- Adding to the above point, trades are not just to give you more money. Once in a while (make it a low odd event) a civ can learn a tech from its trade partner when it is way behind in a particular area. So closing border can carry significant consequence.
- Make modern age more interesting. Right now the game is fairly fatalistic. When you are ahead in the mid-game, 99% you're gonna win the game.
- Leaders with 3 traits
- Traits and civic may also carry penalty, not just bonus.
- Easier customization of leaders
- More options for barbarians. Currently it's no-yes-raging. I'd like to see a 5-level option.
- Improved naval and air warfare. Bring back missiles.
