I love and respect this game just as much if not sometimes more than Civ2. In fact chess is so complex we might as well use it to express our emotions, and speak rather than play it as a game. In chess I see an infinite sea of possiblities, categorized in such a spacial dialect that it challenges every aspect of our universe.
If you are still new to chess I urge you to keep playing this game until you can see it's real beauty. Chess can be a very good tool in life!
