*Looks around* Says: "My House"
Any thoughts on what governments go with what strategys, civs and empire sizes.

Here are some of my thoughts and questions on the subj:
I have heard a fair number of ppl bashing Communism saying that it doesnt spread the corruption (which is false) and that it drops their economy throught the floor.

Most of those ppl have great things to say about democracy however im most cases when i have tired it is a total mess. It only seems to work for me in very highly developed nations with tons of infrastructure and a lot of luxerys.

Commmunism however while not big on tons of gold (cant spend it on hurry only on diplomacy deals not like you need a lot of it anyway.) allows for a HUGE empire since even remote citys will be able to build improvments.

So my question: What kind of situation do you need to use the various govenments properly?
And btw why do some ppl stay with Despotism?
Monarchy is basicaly the same but with less corrupion.

DOH! *smacks forehead*

just saw the govenments thread thats already up but i cant seem to deleat this thread even thought i started it.

Communism -- there is nothing like it if you are going for a straight military victory.

I usually turn off all victories other than military victories. Communism is a real butt kicker IMO.

You get a better economy than despotism. You don't get a riot every 2 turns like Democracy. You hardly need the cash for anything other than bribes/espionage. You can churn out lots of units in a hurry, especially when you get the draft.

If you combine communism and razing cities, you can build up a ton of workers. Then, on a beachead on an enemy continent you can plop down a few cities, fill them with captured workers, and rapidly build more units.

Since you are not using cash to rush production, it tends to accumulate. Lots of it.

The weakest feature is probably the lousy science output. So you have to either buy the tech or better, grab it when they beg for peace.

I wish it weren't 'communism' because in the real world it bites, but in the game it's great.

In my games i run communisms with 90% happy ppl.
It may not work in the real world but I can run prosperous
communisms in Civ3 :king:

so dont acuse any of my empires of graft, coruption
and opression of the poor :D
In my games the 'proletariat' is happy and prosperous
:)

Thats one of the fun things about Civ3 you can do things
that almost never work in real govenments. Like a fair and
good communism or a Benevolent Dictatorship.

Thanks to stealing my thunder Joben. Just kidding. I like communism too. I hate those foo-foo govs republic and democracy. I can never get them to work properly. people complain too much and you waste time and resources keeping them happy. communism seemed to work much better in civ2 though.

The other fun thing about communism is the hilarious irony of rush building cathedrals.

I always imagine some dyed in the wool Marxist saying,
"Comrade Lenin says 8 proletarian shall die constructing a Cathedral for the Glory of God" ROTFL
