Been a while since I had to ask a question. Been hard out with the CIV3. :) - I gave up using game maps and have been making my own. After several disasters I finally got the hang of things. But I'm now stuck with a problem in the ConquestsEdit.

I need to extend the years between turns,,, I getting Gun Powder while still in BC...

How does the Time Options and Time Scale Scenario Properties work. -
It is probably simple,,as usual.

Time limit= If you want a different time limit than the standard 540 turns.

Base unit of time=Years, months, or weeks. I take it you want to use years.

Start date=The date for turn 0 (start of game, which by default is 4000 BC)

But it sounds like you just want to change the time scale.

Time scale=How many units of time for each turn
-First ___ turns = ___ units each
For this example I'll use 25 and 50 (years or units). So 50 years will pass for each turn for the first 25 turns. So after 25 turns then 1250 years will pass (25x50=1250). You can choose different numbers for the next set of turns and this is how in the BC years the game will fly by at 50 and 40 years per turn but then later on in the game only 1 or 2 years pass between each turn.

Whatever turns isn't listed (note that on a default game the time scale only lists 440 turns, but runs up to 540 turns) is assigned to 1 unit (year, month, week) per turn.

Default game:
25 turns = 50 units (4000 BC - 2750 BC)
25 turns = 40 units (2750 BC - 1750 BC)
40 turns = 25 units (1750 BC - 750 BC
50 turns = 20 units (750 BC - 250 AD)
100 turns = 10 units (250 AD - 1250 AD)
100 turns = 5 units (1250 AD - 1750 AD)
100 turns = 2 units (1750 AD - 1950 AD)
100 turns = 1 unit (1950 AD - 2050 AD)
Total
540 turns = 6050 years

So you could perhaps extend the first 25 turns to cover 100 years each turn rather than 50 years each turn. Or have the first 100 turns are 50 years each rather than just the first 25 turns. Of course that will screw up what years the other times switch over (you may get an end date much later than 2050, or still be going 5 years/turn when at 2000 AD depending on what adjustments you make), but you're still limited to 540 TURNS. You'll have to test it out to see what works best for you.

Great,,,thank you very much... i feel a bit of a twit now.

I got confused with the word 'units', thinking it was troops ???, not units of time.
