Hey everyone im new to this site, only been here a day and i have already installed many of the mods availble here including the less yellow mod, snoopy's terrain editor, and im trying to ad new units but this is where i ran into problems. Im trying to add the Perry Class frigate, I have the hacked civ3 mod, copy tool, and Flicster install im somewhat computer savy but im still a bit of a novice i need Dark Sheer or anyone else who has the wisdom to help me break these instuctions down a bit for me

"As usual, you need to use either the hacked Civ3Edit or Gramphos' Civ3CopyTool to create a new unit call Modern Frigate. If you uses the hacked Civ3Edit then do remember to create a folder under Civilization III\Art\units named Modern Frigate (Civ3CopyTool will automatically create the folder for you).

Just unzip the file and copy everything except the two pcx files to this new directory. The two pcx files are Civilopedia icons and they should go to Civilization III\Art\Civilopedia\Icons\units. "

That of course was quoted from Dark Sheers thread on the Perry Class frigate....Gee wiz i have so many questions its hard to think but long story short i have tons of idea's but i need the guidance to make em happen so if anyone can fill me in or show me where to go i would appreciate the help. here are some of my idea's for units : Greek Argonaught-Amphibious meelee unit, Chinese monk,
American Rangers, Egyptian Moor's, Jap. Ninja, Zulu Head Hunter,Roman Gladiator, Highlander, Also maybe work on the idea of a Viking race with Eric the red as leader and Berserker as a starting special unit replacing the swordsman and possibly Viking longboats to replace the the galley. but i need some help on where to start and if i can get some help with installing the Perry Frigate and other units that would be a good start

Nice job to Thunderfall and Dark sheer, I love the look and the new units now if i can just install the units....

Basically Civ3 look for a unit by its folder name. So for warrior there will be a folder under CivilizationIII\Art\units\ called warrior. And inside that folder there must be an ini file with the exact same name. Which is of course warrior.ini.

In order to add the Perry Class Frigate, there are two tools you can use. Hacked Civ3Edit.exe or Gramphos' Civ3CopyTool. I would recommend the later as C3CT is much better than the hacked Civ3Edit. To add a unit using C3CT, first run C3CT then load your Civ3mod.bic (remember to backup or else you can not play the standard rules again ;) ). Under unit, select a unit to copy, say destroyer, then put number to copy as 1. After that, put in the box for new unit Modern Frigate. Now click copy.

After that just save your bic file in C3CT. Now if you go to CivilizationIII\Art\units you will find a new folder call Modern Frigate that is empty except for a ini file. Now unzip the files in the zip to this new folder.

The 2 pcx files provided in the zip are for your Civilopedia icons. To learn how to add items in the Civilopedia, read Pultarck's thread on how to modify Civ3 under the tutorial section.

Hope that helps :king:

Actually C3CT will save the BIC directly at the copy. (I was thinking of changing that, but I guess that it would have to be an option in that case.)

You wouldn't belive it but then again maybe you would i did everything right except one thing.....I forgot to save lol.
Thanx guys that was it!!
