Hey, I was just wondering. how many of you guys use the grid function of Civ2 MGE?
I use it extensively to plan the location of my cities, carefully avoiding overlap as much as possible (sometimes is inevitablem, though)

I toggle it on and off. Most of the time it is off.

I used it often when I first got the game. I was used to playing Civ I, and I needed to adjust to the different angle of Civ II. The grid was a good way to grow accustomed to the new layout. I got used to it quickly, but still sometimes turned the grid on to check city radius. But I don't even need to do that anymore, as I'm so used to the current system I can just eyeball it and see where the radius ends. So while I was quite grateful to have the grid option there for when I needed it, I haven't turned it on in a few years.

I usually play with the grid off. But at a moment's notice I can quickly toggle it on and off again with Control-G. It's useful for showing the city radii when planning a group of cities or for identifying clear groups of squares is a "busy" landscape. Otherwise I find it ugly and keep it off.

The only problem is that Control-G is very near Control-F, and I sometimes have to say "No, I do NOT want cheat mode" (something I have NEVER used).

I use CTRL-G a lot too. I think the grid function is very handy, but it's not a pretty sight all those lines.. It's great for future city-planning, especially if you want to place your city amidst four special resources

i never used it untill just recently. i tried it once a few years ago (with Classic), but i didn't really need it. now i'm just so lazy that i don't wanna take the time to actually look and see if something will fit, so i just use the grin

also, i think MGE's graphics are horrible anyway, so the grid doesn't bother me.

I've used mine since I switched over from Civ I and my guys kept going the wrong f#ckin way. I don't even notice it unless I install again and it's not there, I'm like WTH? then I remember that default is no grid.

I leave it off all the time, except for when I'm moving an aircraft over water and its hard for me to see how many tiles there are without the grid.

I never use it. Because first I didn't know that option (for 2 weeks only

) but also because it's horrible.

Not necessarily. Once you get used with Civ2, you don't need enable it. Now I always have a good guess about the distance.
Keep on playing BlueMonday

I never ever use it. I'm smart enough to se without it. Even over sea and in cities.

Keep on playing! KEEP ON PLAYING! NO RESPECT, I TELL YA'

I've been playing since civ 1 first came out -that's ten years, how much longer do I have to play? I just insist on knowing how many moves it will take to cross an ocean, that has nothing to do with how long I've been playing.

Some of us just aren't that smart. I always use it and I still screw up my moves sometimes.

However, I am smart enough to spell "see" correctly

I use the grid all the time. The game is not graphic-intensive anyway, so why not? Speaking of graphic-intensive, I went into a store last week, and flipped a copy of Black and White over to check the system rewuirements. I need a new computer.

Grid off, except to check new city placement and for farming checks on squares.

I have played a whole game with it on, and after awhile it screen almost doesn't look right after you take it off after a few games, Now I ony use it in the begining of the game, or when there's not alot of land to use.
