if im offered a 1 to 1 deal from another civ and the tech exchange seems fair i take it, but often im hearing off people giving away "worthless" techs to others civs to improve relations etc, as a tribute

My point being that even if you do give anyway useless techs aren’t you in effect speeding up the other civs advancement. Even it's a dead end tech, that civ might off still spent 40 turns researching it, you are therefore making it sooner when they will get to the techs you don’t want them to have.

So whats your jist on this as i really dont like other civs to get techs easy.

Also maybe some ideas for future Civ or patch

- Joint research between civs, ie like DNA today , you spilt the cost and share the knowledge between civs.
- Intelligence Sharing between civs, you give me spy info on this civ etc if they posses it.
- Rent an army / mercenaries etc costs a bomb but might save you in time.
- funky 1 this, in a way you can do it already but Auctions , invite all the civs to an auction , unlike at present where there is no competition , or awareness of another civs interest in an item, tech etc. For instance you could invite 2 warring parties to get your latest tech for a price and they could outbid each other, this would work as well with you being invited to auctions.

It CivII, it was proven that closing the tech gap actually sped up your own research rate. I suspect people assume that is still the case. Even if they don't, giving the AI a tech or two won't really hurt you, and they may become friendlier.

Better yet, sell everybody a tech if you discover it first. For a per turn rate, starting with whoever has the Great Library. You can make a mint that way.

When you trade, use the "what will you offer me for this?" responce, the AI will usually make you a better offer than you could get otherwise.

And sell the same tech to all your rivals in the very same turn. If you don't, they will.
