I was just checking through the cities, and it looks like Fanatikku and Immo are among the top 2 overall. Shield-wise, both can get to 15spt. We have a handful of cities that can also reach that amount, or close. If we are to go to war anytime soon (and we'll need swords -- we're acting like an ancient war isn't possible on monarch! Look at DG1 - that was a mediocre start... and we had 3 times the land at this point of the game), we need fast production. We have 2 sets of workers , so they can work both production zones, and get them to size 12 ASAP.

We also need to decide who to attack. If we remain at peace, the tech pace will go VERY fast. War = a slowed tech pace for the AI. Let's conquer atleast all lands south of France, hopefully before the Industrial Age. (I would like to do so before cavs) So, a war with swords is a must. Sure, we can still build horses here and there. Problem is, we'll be up against UU with 2-3 defense (Impis, Bowmen, Legions)... We need to act now.

Well, as long as we can secure the Roman Iron under our cultural boundaries, we won't have to face Legions.

Well, I hope some silly citizens finally get to their senses and vote for Roman Iron I have been asking for since forever...

Well, consider closeness to settler producer into the equation as well, and I need that iron city for the Roman war.

1 - Rome's border isn't even over it.
2 - We have a warrior on it.
3 - They're nowhere close to building a road on it.
4 - Settling too close will on cause a city to be in the way once we do take that Roman city.

So, let's just gear up for war and attack. :)

Once we take that city we'd better have a settler right near it if we take over, just in case the city is razed. Does this still happen in Vanilla? If it doesn't, then disregard my opinion.
