Transporting partial sums of resources

So city A has 100 tools, and city B needs only 50. How do I load ONLY 50 tools into the wagon?

The only way I can figure out is to go into the governor's screen and do the import/export thing. But first off, that takes a lot of effort, and secondly I have to remember a few turns later to stop the trade route, since I don't want it to be a continuous affair.

There has to be a way to load only partial sums of resources! Help!

To the best of my knowing you have to take a full load if you have one available (which is a pain I agree) so I guess your best bet is to take the full load and then move the remainder back.

Hold SHIFT, then drag and drop the cargo. You'll then be prompted to say how much you want to move.

i bought tools from EUROPE.
Now i have a 100 tools on my boat but i don't know how to transport it off the boat into cities.. HELP

Just bring the ship into a port city, click on the cargo in the "transport" menu, and drag to the city. Or the easier way, just click "unload all" button when in the city, in the bottom right corner of the screen.
