I made a deal with the Incas, i gave him 2 tecs and he gave me 980 gpt and some lump sum.

Well after that THEY made an alliance with the americans against me. So between turns, my gpt went to -460 and some units were downgraded and my economy went to hell.

Why is the gpt removed when war is declared. I even had a good relationship with the Incas, always selling/buying tecnology , making deals, never into war. So WTH is with them?

I think they did it on purpose.

It would be pretty stupid for the AI to keep paying you gold, even though they are trying to kill you. It is just logical.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here & guess that maybe they joined an alliance against you because................... they didn't want to pay 980gpt!

It was happen to me once. I think the reason was because AI couldnt pay GPT anymore. The easiest way to remove the GPT is by declaring war (with reputation hit, which AIs dont care anyway). So afterthat I make sure the total GPT is not too high for a civ

I mean, how could they declare war to me deliberately after we make a deal, i gave him 2 tecnologies, the computer isnt suposed to be that cheap.

isn't he now?
Milking the AI is good, but this was kinda severe...

Just because the AI could not pay you anymore.
At the time you make the offer, the AI had the GPT available to pay, but next turn or a couple turns later they just went bankrupt.
One of the reason could be the Golden Age of the AI just finished.
Other payment from other AI terminated.

BTW, you can do the same, but this will trash your reputation with everyone.

I think the AI will (is able to) still pay you if it doesn't have the money. It just has to sell every single improvement in its empire. :D

This actually happens if you get very much money from an AI and it gets into trouble of paying you.

So be careful, you could provoke a war and get no more GPT. But I usually tend to milk them with GPT trades until they really declare war, so I must not attack them myself and I got the GPT some turns already... you are unfortunate that your Incans were smarter... :)

They are in their way to hell now.
Since i gave tech to the egyptians, they can build tanks and mech infantrys now, and we are owning all. I alredy destroyed the americans, i have all their important cities, now they just have like 2 or 3 small ones on the other side of the continent (panagea). But back to topic, they must have run out of money to pay me, cause they knew my armies are far superior.

I've noticed that the Incas are inevitably tricky and aggressive. I hate seeing them next to me when I start a new game. Those chasqui scouts are troublemakers. Plus, the AI plays the Incas well from what I've seen and in my experience, they tend to be powerful and break deals often to go to war. I've won a couple of games myself using them - the latest being a one city cultural victory.

Incas really rock when AI controls them and if you have no means to prevent their expansion. It was like that in my previous game. They were the greatest power of their continent.

Could be a flipping city as well....I had a similar situation just happen in my current. My "buddies" the Romans invaded 2 turns after I traded them Saltpeter.....Turns out one of their cities was about to flip...(well I think so anyway)......Took me by surprise, had to recall the whole army back to win back a city.....I don't think the AI was gonna let that city flip and any cost....

All Mil. civ have this 'treacherous' effect. You are the most powerful at the time, or you found city number x, and they go sneaky attack you...

Gandhi frequently sneak attacks me with inferior units for no reason. In my most recent game he did this in the ancient era, starting a 2000 year world war - me versus the world, on a huge pangaea. You know, just like the real Gandhi would.

Especially the Germans, they are really dumb. They go and sneak attack me when I'm about twice as powerful, then I go and beat them up and take their land.
