Hmm, talking abouut the trophies. Wouldn't it make sense to distinguish a bit more between the kind of game used to get them?
It would take me not even 3 hours to get all "civ win" trophies by rushing through duell pangea maps. Same is true about the other trophies: set up the game right, and you'll have a quick win.
So what in your opinion influences the "difficulty" of a game?
In my experience from becoming the "worst quattromaster (sadly not for) ever" the following 3 factors are important.
The difficulty setting, as long as the map is big enough to make rushes difficult.
The number of civs, where a (to) high number makes it easier for early rushes.
The speed setting, where marathon benefits rushes, while quick benefits time and other "lasting" victories.
Looking at those three, you'll see that I dislike rushes. IMO they are like an exploit, a shortcut to the real game. Don't get me wrong: several civs in FfH2 ARE rush civs (orcs frex). But their value is lowered, when everybody rushes.
So I'd suggest to make several trophy halls, instead of just one. They should follow the same basic rules, but be differentated according to the games a trophy is won in.
#1 quick 'n dirty: this trophy hall counts all victories.
#2 hard work: only games that follow the criteria layed out below will count towards this trophy hall
Difficulty: Prince and above
Size vs Civs: minimum size small
Small min5 max8
Standard min7 max11
Large min9 max15
Huge min11 max18
Speed: doesn't matter
#3 everlasting fame: only the most "epic" games count towards this trophy hall, additionaly to the "hard work hall"
Difficulty: Emperor and above
Size: at least standard
Speed: Epic or Marathon
The effects of the trophies would only apply to games of the same "hall". Thus by winning a "duell marathon rush" with the Hippus you'd get the Hippus victory effect for "quick n'dirty" games only. But once you won with the Hippus on a Standard map with 7 civs on emperor difficulty and epic speed, you have the Hippus victory in all 3 halls, thus get its benefit in all games.
What do you think about this suggestions?
Of course it would be possible to fine tune them even more, butit shouldn't become to "unwieldy" right?
