Trouble downloading

I am having a very hard time downloading minimal and typical versions of civ 3.

I dont know why it keeps doing this can someone help me figure this out?


OS: Windows XP professional service pack 3
1 GB RAM

Intel Pentium D proccessor

Dell precision 380

360 GB harddrive 312 GB free

Well i know you need 800MB to download it so try to delete some unused things?

I dont think its the memory. It says something about a program file missing.

Take a look at the picture i provided.

Does it keep stopping at the same file, or different files? You might want to check your CD for a smudge or dirt or something, and clean it. Although usually that kicks out a CRC error....but worth checking anyways.

Do you have another computer you can install it on? Might be the drive too.

so i cleaned it off and it stops on the same file everytime. I installed it perfectly on my windows 98 SE but i dont get why it wouldnt install on my XP?

Try copying the cd to a temporary folder on your hard drive. You'll probably still need the cd to authenticate, but it should install off the hard drive.

Ok i tired that and no luck stoped on the same spot.

I dunno. Maybe the disc is scratched.

Umm, I see the error in your screenshot, but the error message pop-up blocks what Install Shield is displaying.

What file is is causing the problem?

You may want to turn off your anti-virus or fireall while you install. I know an update to my firewall prevented me from running CivIII for a while.
