Trouble running BtS PTBS

When I run the PTBS executable from the BtS directory, it gets to the 'select init type' screen, and tells me that there is a PTBS patch to download. If I say 'yes' it spends almost an hour downloading and installing a patch, at which point the program makes me quit. When I run the program again, it just does the same thing. If I say 'no' to the patch, it let's me continue on to set up the game, but no one can log into it (it times out in the attempt to connect).

I'm able to run Warlords PTBS just fine, and players are able to log in, so I know it's not my connection or firewall.


Has anyone seen this problem before? Does anyone have any ideas to fix it?

Download the 3.03 patch here.

That built-in download in the BTBS app looked horribly hacked-together and I bet they never even tested it. It probably downloads the file but never runs it. Regardless, manually downloading and installing the patch works just fine, and then you don't get that popup anymore.
