I know it's not related with the subject here, but I couldn't find any other place to post this question. Will the Turkish Civilization be added in Civ3? Anybody got an idea??? I think the dumbest thing about this game is not including one of the dominant powers of the world until the 20th century. Some say the barbarians in this game are the Turks, but that would be a very racist thing to say right? I believe Sid Meier and his team should see Age of Empires II series as an example to this issue.

What do you think???

No I read that they are not adding any new civilizations to Civ 3 and are actually eliminating 5 of them. I think this is horrible but that was said in an interview with Jeff Briggs.

I always thought that the Persians represented the Turks, they're both Muslims, & both hail from relatively the same region right?

If there's a civ that should've been included & wasn't it's the Polish.

There is a thread called "new civilisations" way down the thread list. Read that TURK and see the raging debate that we have had over the civilisations that are represented in the game. I think that that topic received over 100 posts. As for my view, I think that all civs should be represented via a custom civ option (for cpu opponents as well as player civ).

F*&k jazzy animated leaders
F&*k specialised units for civs

We don't want them, need them and they have resulted in the loss of five civs that we had gotten quite used to. There that is my piece said.

The Turks and the Persians are too different civilizations and they are really very different from each other both in terms of culture and race. The only similarity is the religion.

I think Sid Meier and his team think like Az which is not really logical. The Turks are really an important civilization for the world history and I think Sid Meier and his team should see the "Age of Empires II" and learn.

BTW a nice debate about turkey just here:

I agree the Persians do not represent the Turks or Arabs or whatnot properly, but if they *are* lowering the number of Civ's I'm dandy with either turks or persians quite frankly...

If you think that Turks should not be included in the game, I advise you to read history and learn how it would be silly not to add a civilization which affected the world

Turk, I don't think there is much you can teach Sid Meier about how to make a strategy game.

You don't see Vikings complaining, do you? Nobodies arguing against the inclusion of Turks (Ottomons) in the game with others. If you have the time to learn the whole game balance thing and programming and increasing the capacity of a CD and whatnot, I think Sid Meier would be more than happy to let you include Turks. Until then I suggest you should keep it shut

Just a friendly advise from a fella Turkish national.

Some say the barbarians in this game are the Turks, but that would be a very racist thing to say right?

from what i heard, they were talking about how warlike the turks were in the past. a lot of the game is about the past. no one was suggesting you were going to kill us!

i hate the new civilizations too. turks, mexicans, incas, norway would be nice.

Veritech, I did not really understand what you meant by a fella Turkish national. I would be glad if you explained me. I cannot teach Sid Meier how to make a strategy game of course, but by looking at the two Civ games (CivI- CivII) I believe I can surely teach him facts about history. Mostly the major ones such as the Huns, Gazne (I don't know how this is translated into English), Seljuks and the Ottomans it is obvious that the Turks were an important part of history. Since we are discussing here that Civ3 should be "realistic", I believe we have to see this fact. Even the people that disagree with me will 100% agree with me when I say that the Turks had a lot more effect to the other civilizations than the Sioux, Babylonians and other unnecessary civilizations included in Civ1 and Civ2. Based on these ideas I will NOT keep it SHUT. Thank you for your friendly advise anyway.
CMH: Yes the Turks were like that in the very early times, at the time of the Huns which are a Turkish. If you think about the histroy all the way back to the Huns till the Ottomans you can see that the Turks had effected the life of Romans and most of European (or all maybe I should say) nations.
What I'm trying to tell you guys is, when you're playing on deity level, it makes no sense to me to see a big Sioux civilization, but no Turks. I could even see it a bit logical to include the Turks as barbarians if they were capable of improving their civiliziation in the game when they capture a city. But they can only build other barbarian units only.

I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT, THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM FOR "ME". AT LEAST I CAN MODIFY THE BABYLONIAN, OR PERSIAN CIVILIZATION TO REPRESENT THE TURKS. BUT WHAT I'M TALKING HERE IS ABOUT REALITY. MOST PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM ARE ADDING THEIR IDEAS FOR THE GAME TO BE MORE REALISTIC. AND WHAT I'M SAYING IS NOT JUST AN IDEA. IT IS FACTS OF THE WORLD, AND SORRY I CONSIDER THE PROGRAMMERS OF THIS GAME VERY "DUMB". THEY NEED TO PLAY THE POPULAR GAME "AGE OF EMPIRES II" SERIES AND LEARN LESSONS OF HOW TO MAKE A REALISTIC STRATEGY GAME!!!

and also it is obvious that the Turks effected the world more than the Vikings, and you can see this fact especially when you consider different time periods of history.

i agree. i think the turks should be in the game. that is my stance once and for all.

i wish there were maybe 70+ civs and up to 20 on a map. lots of fun.

For God's sake man! Chill out, this is just a stupid game (sorry people just had to say it

).

I'm Turkish as well just like you are, I don't believe that it is soooooo important whether Ottoman's are included or not. But I believe it would be a huge plus, for me, if they did include it. But there you go, from the looks of it they won't be doing that.

If you're concerned about this issue so much... then I would suggest you, somehow, contact the game developers and raise your concerns. Or better go start a petition on a web page or something...

Historically, mistorically... who cares! No game is perfect, neither will this one be. So again, chill out.

How about if on the CivIII website they offered a whole bunch of civs for downloading, you can get what you want? That way, if you only wanted Western Hemisphere you could get Incas, Aztecs, Americans, Cherokees, Sioux, Mayans, and Inuits.

Robert E. Lee,

That would definitely allow everyone to have the civs thay want in their version. The question I have, which civs will be in the game you buy and how will the game determine which ones will be dropped when you add the civs you want to your game? Will this cause a programming problem and bugs to occur? I still like the idea though.

The eternal discussion about turks ehh? Well, yes, I can agree that the turks could very well be added to the game. But like I said, if they are dropping Civ's I don't feel a high necessity to add the turks. They are hardly more *important* than anyone else. Arabs could just as well be added because without them it is unlikely that the seljuk turks would ever have become something of importance. But still, I would like to see the turks in the game, but there are also dozens of other civilizations I would like to see as well...

Well I advice you to read more history then...

By the way, how can you relate the Seljuk Turks and Arabs like this? Can you explain it a bit?

WEll first of all...**** TURKS...they're not a real nation anyway
just a bunch of sandy little *******s several times heavily beaten but unfortunately not destroyed by the Russians

Just know this u TURK: noone is forgotten, nothing is forgotten.
It's a message to all civilized nations in this forum: Justice has not been done. Yet
