No screenies this turn, unless I can post them tomorrow. I am currently in transition between old and new computers, and still have Screen Print on the old system. However, playing the save on the new system rocks! :D Much faster performance.

Now for latest:

CGN Canal City Breached!!

I wish I had the screenie for this, but the middle city of Netatolia's three canal ports is no more. Webringen has drawn first blood in a war that had run cold up to this point.

It appears that GWT's 16 Ansar Warriors mentioned to Cheetah in the CGN Ambassador thread have made their mark. I would like for us to contact CGN at once to get their thoughts on this development, although at the moment we cannot be of much help.

City of Kung Pao Founded!

I fully expect this to be my third failed attempt at naming a city, and that is fine with me. This moniker was just a stopgap to get some sort of name in place. At least the food is Chinese this time. ;) :D

Besides the "sushi" town, my other failed attempt would be New Yun Feng which still needs to be fully translated to Chinese.

In other news......

---> Now working on Markets in 4 cities, with Cha Ching to start one next turn.

---> Except for mining a few Hills around Ju Yaosai, I think it would be a good idea to consider merging some workers into cities for now. It will allow us to maximize commerce and production during this crucial time. At this point, each core city(except JY) has enough unused tiles that can still drastically improve our standing. I will get into details on this matter soon.

Any questions, please let me know. I will try to post some screenies when I can :)

Any questions, please let me know.

Yes, why weren't you playing for us before, and focusing on the SPDG instead?

Yeah, DZ, why didn't you take my job earlier ;)

Oh well, my motivation as president sort of died when I got back from my holiday. In fact, my motivation for the MSDG has sort of died. But dont worry, it comes and goes. My spontaneous nature really works against me sometimes :(.

On other news, I really worry about what will become of CGN. This will really become foul for us if they lose. I would even consider giving them anything, something, just to help them.

I will contact Netatolia immediately!

Still, I would have liked some screenshots.

Oh, and I realy don't feel like putting our workers into the cities. I want them to continue develop the land.

Hahaha!

You should always try to confirm your information before you send me over to CGN with out condolances! :P

<Cheetah> I was just informed of the loss of your city. Please accept the greatest condolances from the Empire of Fanatikou :-/
<miccofl> New Castle? We disbanded it to consolidate in Boston

They now have 29 Pikes guarding Boston, with a lot of Medieval Infantry and Knights as well. :)

Still, they would still like us to be able to accept the city so their forces can get home quickly, if it will be needed.

29 pikes?

So they wouldn't have managed to save the other city, huh?

If you read closely, that's what I asked you to do, Cheetah. ;)

While I assumed that the loss was at the hands of GWT, I didn't ask you to give our condolences. :D

Also, I seem to be getting resistance on the matter of joining Workers to cities. Due to our 4 Luxuries, all our connected cities can reach a max population of 6 right now, and cities with Marketplaces can reach population of 8. The simple fact is that most of these cities have unused tiles that could greatly increase our standing if they were used right now instead of waitng 10-20 turns to grow.

Here are some details:

---> Jiang Mapi and Ju Yaosai can gain 2 unused irrigated plains each by joining workers. These cities will take awhile to gain 2 pop points otherwise. With those two pop points come increased production and commerce, the latter of which will be enhanced ny our Marketplaces.

---> Zhi Gang can gain two mined grasslands, which will most likely bring its shields/pt to 10+.

---> Cha Ching needs one more mined hill before I can max it out at pop 6. Once again, a gain in production and commerce with no immediate need to build a Temple or Aqueduct.

---> The workers of Xin Yun Feng(I'll change the name next turn) can improve 6 tiles around the city so that it can reach Size 6 and still use two mined mountains for FP production. No workers will join the city until the tile improvements are complete. Once the FP is built, we can switch gears to massive worker production again.

---> Even though it is slated as a worker factory, I want to add one worker to Yun Qiuling next turn. By making it a Size 4, it can actually produce workers fast enough to replace the lost worker. I am hoping to get a constant worker cycle in this city, so that it can produce a worker every 2-3 turns with no loss of population.

---> We have 5 cities built off a river or lake that can grow without an Aqueduct. They are: Shen Ling, Jiang Mapi, Ju Yaosai, Yun Qiuling and (the city north of Jiang Mapi whose name escapes me).

I know that this plan seems unorthodox, but the simple fact is that if we go forward with my proposal, we will become a land of Size 6-8 cities instead of Size 3-4. Once the target cities are "maxed out" at Size 6 or 8, I will adjust the laborers in a manner that will stall growth to 0 while maxing out production. This eliminates the need for more workers, as the city will not need them for some time.

But the good news is that we will still be making workers. I am working on readying Yun Qiuling and Kungbaiao Haian to be productive worker factories(2-3 turns) so that we can continue to address several needs. But our "maxed out" cities will not need any help from workers for quite some time.

After the worker migration is complete, we should:

---> Add 40-50gpt to our coffers(conservative estimate :D )

---> Have 4 cities that can produce Riders in 5-7 turns.

---> Have 2 cities that will still be dedicated to nothing but workers. These workers can be used to build up our road network for post-FP cities.

---> Have Xin Yun Feng build the Forbidden Palace so we can start the whole process over again in the East. Although the FP won't reach completion until early-to-mid Term 6, it will still provide us with great growth opportunities once it is built.

Well, that's all I have for now. Once I can provide screenies, I will put forth a more solid proposal. I hope that you can see now that this isn't some fly-by-night proposal, but is instead a solid way to get us back in the game. Please psot any other questions you may have. :)

Hm, my bad then maybe :p

Anyway, noone realy cares. And you have nearly convinced me about the worker thing. Will have to think a little more on it.

But about that magic carpet ride for CGN, we should decide if we are willing to go through with it. If the time come for them to ask it of us, we won't have the time to discuss it then.

Donovan, your worker thingy is convincing. I vote yes on it.

Even though we have WAY fewer cities, if our enemies or competitors are so military oriented, we could very well end up being the economic powerhouse of the game if we keep this non military stance up.

I have to agree with the idea posted before. Obviously military superpower is way out of our league (or atleast so it seems), but focusing on economics could really get our foot in the door.

Yes, a good economy could also get us that much needed tech lead (overtime).

I also agree that we shouldn't build a big military force at the moment as
A) We can't build one strong enough to change something
B) It could upset Poly to see us going full military

What we could do on the other hand is being the economical part of the alliance and Poly could be the armed wing of it.

Thanks, everyone for posting your thoughts on my proposal.

While we will concentrating primarily on economic status and growth, I still want us to build up a "just in case" battalion of 10-15 Riders. I also want us to consider how we should deal with the CGN situation, because if we want to get involved there we will need an even larger military presence.

I think we are safe on our current path until Navigation. Let's see how the next few turns go, and we can decide our direction as we make progress. As always, I will keep you informed of any thing important. :)

I also second that... kind of like a reserve force. I know I'm new here and I may be wrong but it seems like we are putting an awful lot of trust in Apolyton(s/p?). Although a good niche would be economy, we should also keep in mind that we can't fully trust anyone...

Just a thought, sorry if I'm completely wrong.;)

You are absolutely correct, NeoDemocrat. In fact, last month it was determined that Poly has 80(!) units while we have about 30-35. That is why it is imperative that we don't forget about the military entirely.

On the plus side, the terms of our alliance grant us a 10-turn non agression agreement should one of us cancel the alliance. It will be important to have some kind of military foundation to quickly build upon should that happen.

Yes, we do need a small, but effective military so we can fight enemy invaders if needed.
