Philosophy completed, chose CoL as free tech and started on Republic
Springfield completes warrior, starts another
Persia (TNT) have declared war, captured a worker, and can destroy Cruller next turn.

At this point I have terminated civ without moving anything so we can discuss current events. We have to perform the above actions the same way for science and Springfield build queue when restarting the game.

When we rebuild, it needs to go on the other side of the river where supporting units can reach it in 1 turn, like I said from the beginning.

You're seeing it right Rik. I would have moved the warrior the moment we saw them in case they didn't come in direct, but others took a "no point in that because we're already toast" combined with "look we have no fear" approach. Guess it didn't work. :(

OK, here's the draft plan for handling this turn. Please post your comments as soon as possible.

Abandon Cruller
Worker E of Cruller moves S
Warrior SE of Cruller moves N
Warrior in Shelbyville moves W
Exploring warrior to the west moves N
Exploring warrior to the east could start returning home or continue exploring, what do you think is best?
Boats continue exploring

Next turn, we should pop the hut with a worker, which should be safer than a warrior. The warrior from Shelbyville is in position to cover if necessary. The warrior which was moving N is in position to keep the Persian warrior from doing any pillaging, so our rebuild will have its infrastructure in place.

We also need to make our offer to MIA really soon.

get 2 or 3 free warriors to kill the evil TNT warrior, don't let him return home with our worker, liberate him and kill the enemy. Blood for blood, when Cruller is burned, all citizens will die, i say return the favor, make peace, build tons of MW and destroy Persia.

Our chances to win this game were slim already, and I think they have just shrunk to astronomically small - we are losing 4 pop, we'll never make that up. Even if we manage to withstand or defeat Persia, the other two civs only have to stay out of war and they will surge ahead. From that point of view, we can just as well give up :(.
The only reason to continue would be to try and make sure that Persia goes down with us.

I am too tired right now to analyze or look carefully at the save, but here's my 2 cents:
  • Abandon Cruller, we don't want it in Persian hands. Possibly also pull back workers if in danger, or improving useless stuff.
  • Let's improve diplomacy with Greece, please! We will need to trade for warrior code and wheel very very soon. We probably also want iron working. If we all agree that we cannot win anymore, then there is no need to hold back on tech trading, and we should get all the military tech we can get.
  • There is no point in alliances with Greece, they cannot help us. I don't know if we are allowed to tell them about this war, and it may not even be smart to do so. Why tell them we're in trouble?
  • At least 1, possibly 2 warriors to the North to see what's coming. We'll have to hope that the remaining guys in the core can deal with the explorer, and that they have no immediate backup. Better start praying to the RNG gods.
  • Springfield should perhaps switch to rax, it depends on whether we have horses or not. Again, let's pray, but to the mapmaker this time :).
  • There is no point in researching republic. Set to 0 science until we get wheel+wc, then research HBR. A despotic GA is a pity, but we are fighting for survival.
  • I don't see the point of making peace with Persia, ever. I would rather give up.
  • We cannot catch the worker, we have no fast units. Will have to let him go.
  • Not sure about popping the hut. Why? Can a worker not disturb angry barbs? I didn't know that.

we may need another extension...

It is imperative that we contact MIA and get WC and Wheel for writing, its a loss but we need to get our mounted warriors on line. We can still beat TNT, we have the advantage that there is a fair distance to travel between each other, and our horses are faster than immortals, so we need to take the fight to them. Stack of 5 to 10 mounted warriors can conduct quick in and out raids and disrupt/harrass any units they send against us. Any towns we capture should be razed.

Finally i take full responsibility for the loss of cruller, it was my mistake to trust them, which left us open to attack so for that i am prepared to fall on my sword.

Don't forget that we don't have swords yet - you'll have to do something clumsy with an axe .
Seriously, there are plenty of mistakes and misjudgements that contributed to this disaster. Yours wasn't the biggest by a long shot IMO.

Wow you dont check in every day and you miss a lot. Why didnt we rush a spear in Cruller? It would have taken it to size 1 and autorazeable if they attacked it, as well as bringing that warrior closer to our warriors to hopefully kill it.

The games not over by any means. Lets kill that guy and build up military. I trust we turned down the lux slider due to the war happiness?

We couldn't rush and get a defender because Cruller didn't grow until after the Persian was already 1 turn away. Drawing their warrior in to counterattack range didn't come to mind, and we didn't want them to get gold -- they do get gold when razing a city, right?

I think I remembered to change lux slider -- if not it will be done this turn.

That's a good idea, I will remember it for next time (hope not :) ).

The game is not over, except of course for Provolutions and his band of well you know. anyway, I suggest trading writing for WC and the wheel, build tons of MW and run right through Persia, razing as we go along, we should also rebuild Cruller it was a nice site and pretty defensible. We should also take this whole incident as a lesson, make sure cities are adequatley defended, and avoid river cities for the time being, we want to get forces throughout our land in 1 or 2 turns max.

Even if this does ruin our chances to win I would like to do a spoiling war againts those _____!!! We shouldn't rest until Provo's band is destoyed!
