hello i'm trying to do domination with mongols (r&f)

i did:
- built three cities
- built encampment/ordu in two cities
- started building government plaza/warlords throne in the other city
- chose maneuver policy for horseman production bonus

when i was ready to build a ton of horsemen it was around turn 100 and it would take around 4 turns to build a horseman in my capital(ordu) and around 8 turns in the other city with ordu.

when i had around twenty horsemen it was around turn 120. i have entered renaissance era.

the dutch was my neighbor and i managed to take three of their cities without much hassle. but i noticed they already had a knight unit.

i haven't played further after this point.

i'm thinking i need iron to build knights and later research military science to upgrade horsemen to cavalry. i would need mercenary/professional army to upgrade with lower cost.

i made configured the map as tiny with only two AIs. will i be able to kill off the two AIs?

Difficulty level and speed might be handy to mention if you want to know if you can defeat something. It also depends on if the enemy has walls already or not.

I would say just try it and learn from your mistakes, but that might not be fun for you. Personally, I don't mind getting advice, but taking risks and making important decisions is a vital part of the game. Otherwise I might as well watch somebody else play : ) Again, that's just my opinion.

Was about to say there is a middle step between horsemen and cavalry but that came with Gathering Storm.

Speed and difficulty don't matter when there's only 2 AI on a tiny map lol. Should be super easy, I don't see the problem.
