Hello,
I am currently playing a game as the Persians (for the first time) where I discovered Philosophy (thereby receiving a Science leader) and then after picking Monarchy, received another Science leader within the same turn.

How common an occurrence is this?

The chance for an SGL is assumed to be 3% for regular Civs and 5% for scientific Civs. If so the chance would be 0.09% for regular Civs and 0.25% for your scientific civ. This already assumes that both techs have not been researched by anyone else.

It happens not often, but it is not uncommon.

In the "Interesting Screenshots" thread is a picture from one of my games, there I had three (or four?) leaders in a row without a wonder to build left (Hoover Dam was still open, but without a single river on the map... ;) ).
