Some things I seriously missed in Civ 5 and (in some cases) in Civ 4.

1- correct and updated civilopedia. All patch changes on items and mechanics must always be reflected on the civilopedia. Also, no useless items (eg., the "Blablabla promotion", which, if clicked, just says "Blablabla promotion". Very useful, indeed!!); if some items are present, please describe them clearly.
2- needed information at hand (part 1). I mustn't have to scroll hundred of lines of messages, to find out if a particular important event has already happened or not (like a world wonder been built). Provide this kind of information in a clear way.
3- needed information at hand (part 2). I don't have to be able to know and distinguish graphically important items on the map, in order to know if a foreign city contains a given building (eg., a courthouse, or the Sistine Chapel). Provide this kind of information in a clear way.
4- Info about units actions. If a unit is going somewhere (after a Go To command), I must be able to know its destination.
5- Consistence in allowed things and actions. If Espionage is disabled, I shouldn't be able to build an espionage center (which only protects against spies), or, at least, it should have some modified effect (see Civ4: espionage buildings gave culture instead, just to keep them useful somehow).

At least to 3 they seem to have given thought - with wonders and districts on the map. That's one item that there is probably not something to worry about.

I'll add - even if a single item happens to have lot's of features (CiV units with loads of promotions - I'm looking your way) I should be able to tell what every one of them does. It must not be hidden because of some other part of the graphics.

That will be useful particularly if you can Mouse over a Wonder tile and see what the Wonder is. (After all the Pyramids are easy to recognize.. but Temple of Atremis/Parthenon/Statue of Zeus/Great Library are all basically the same...include the text)

1 is really important. So many times I've opened the civilopedia to look something up and didn't find the info I needed even though I found the concept.

Yeah, the civilopedia was/is terribly designed and written. I've actually thought in the past about undertaking a complete redesign of it on my own, making it more useful, but never got around to it. Maybe in Civ VI they'll finally get it right.
