Well it's still pretty surprising to me. Places like Spain, Argentina and Venezuela had always been very polite and welcoming places in my impressions. But I guess I'll take a different perspective now. And Killer, the tip about por favor is certainly helpful since I'm also a Spanish student! But still, wouldn't my strong English accent just give away my foreigner status?
Sim_One: I do not think they are rude - it is just they are helpful and polite WITHOUT saying 'please'. But if you take their politicians, all those dictators of southern America.......
as for the accent: I have heard so many different accents of Spanish - oh well....
