question's in the title. Keep getting this when joining multiplayer saves.

Hm, never seen that one.

Are you the one loading the save, or is a remote host doing it? How many players are involved? Do other players connecting to the same host also get it?

Have you managed to play with the same people on previous occasions? (And, if so, have any of you changed anything - settings or versions, say - since?)

Does starting a new game with the same players work properly? How about starting a new game, saving, and then loading that saved game?

Basic question: Do you have enough free space on your Hard Drive? [the game need some for virtual memory]

You typically get this one if you've changed the mod since the game was started - specifically if the number of Units, Buildings, Civics etc has changed at all. It's also the error message you'd receive if using a patch that is said to "break saves".

Nothing's changed, and I've played with the host plenty of times ( also occurs if I make my own 1-person multiplayer savegames, go back to main menu, then try to load them)

I do have plenty of disk space...

It's wierd and pretty frustrating because it shuts down civ from functioning completely for me, more or less.

Odd, to be sure. Does it happen with regular civilization IV multiplayer save games, as well?

How about if you try loading a game saved by someone else?

I'm attaching a small one here, see if you get the same error with that.

(FFH 0.31e, no additional mods.)

I'm no expert but sounds like file corruption - would suggest fresh install (after running a scandisk).
