So throughout a game you earn great artworks and archeological relics, and collecting sets nets you a bonus toward culture. Yet where do you display these precious, sought after items? A sterile interface, which is not only incongruous to the artworks you collect and arrange in sets, but also to the beautiful map aesthetic and leader animations. Seems very last minute to me.

How many of us remember the original Civ, where you got to upgrade a palace/throne room, and how fun that was? Well why not have a similar mechanic where you have a treasure room, and the various relics and great artworks can be displayed in style - as well as conveying bonus information etc.?

The entire UI has a very 'clean' style to it. I don't think this is any different and I highly decorated, busy treasure room gallery may not fit well with the rest of the UI.

I like the Great Work screen. Much nicer than Civ5's, and as Lucius said I don't think a cluttered throne room would really fit Civ6's aesthetic.

Doesn't have to be 'cluttered'. The artworks are simply displayed in a similar style to the Palace/Throne Room of old. What you call clean I think it sterile.

The palace in previous civs was purely aesthetic. The great works screen is informational. If you want your data displayed in the most annoying way possible because it looks pretty there are 100s of 1990s FMV games for you to choose from.

Except that the fact that each great work/relic has it's own individual art is totally counter to your statement that it "seems very last minute to me".

I like how the great works screen is simple and elegant and almost seems to reflect a museum-esque environment.

From what I've seen the only information available is conveyed through a tooltip - and rather poorly at that. For example, in one video I watched of Marbozir, he was struggling to discover the best arrangement of artworks, and accidentally realised he had the complete set. Seemed rather confusing to me.

No, the main function of the Great Works interface seems to be merely arranging the various objects with particular cities.

I think a less complex, more aesthetic design is the way to go.

Looks more like a spreadsheet than a museum to me.

Well the theming info is clearly bugged in this pre-release build, yes.
