Unique Legacy Paths Goals

What would really make the game replayable is unique legacy path goals for each leader.

I just fired up my second game and I'm already bored of doing all the same things again.

If every leader had their own legacy path goals the game would be much more interesting. I'd be compelled to play through every leader.

I think Rhye’s and fall had something similar with unique objectives

I’m not quite sure though

I just want more legacy paths if that is possible

Agreed. There should be alternate legacy paths for Antiquity and Exploration (Modern Age is already locked in because of the Victory Conditions). The game could randomly pick between 2 legacy paths for each category. That way there would be some replayability from game to game since you would not know which legacy path in advance.

That'd be really cool, but I think it's probably too much to ask the devs for, especially if we want a lot more leaders added to the game going forward.

How would it affect civs who get bonuses related to certain paths? (Assyria, Mongolia, Songhai, Inca)

Yeah, it could potentially affect those civs. For example, if you are playing as Assyria and you roll a different science legacy path in Antiquity that does not involve getting codices then the Assyria unique trait would be pointless. You could still conquer settlements for military legacy points but would not need to conquer them to get codices. So it would sort of neuter the unique playstyle of Assyria. But presumably, they could still compete well for the new science legacy and compete in the other legacy paths as well. So I don't think it would necessarily hurt them too much. It would just alter their playstyle a bit. Plus, it would be randomized between 2 options so there would still be a 50% chance you do get the science legacy that works with Assyria.

The main benefit of randomizing the legacy paths in the Antiquity and Exploration Ages would be to shake up gameplay so that players are not always pursuing the same strategies in every game. I think this benefit would outweight any downsides from having some civs not be able to use their unique trait to its full potential in some games.

I remember workshopping a bunch of potential legacies before the game came out when I thought it would work more like the Humankind stars / achievements than the paths we've currently got.

Antiquity
Middle Ages - Complete Future Tech and Future Civic.
Baqt - Have 3 Alliances.
Monopolium - Have every copy of a specific resource within your borders.
Koinon Symmachon - Be Suzerain of every existing City-State while no Independent Powers exist on the map.
Alexander Wept - Have a Commander with 3 Commendations.
World Capital - Have a City with 50 Population.

Exploration
Padron Real - Uncover every land tile adjacent to coast, and discover every Natural Wonder.
Voyage of the Beagle - Control 2 Natural Wonders in Distant Lands.
Sun Never Sets - Have a City with at least 10 Population on every continent.
Invincible Armada - Have 2 Navy Commanders with at least 2 Commendations each.
Third Crusade - Conquer and convert a Holy City in the Distant Lands.
Age of Piracy - Capture 5 Treasure Fleets from other Civilizations.
Company Rule - Integrate 3 City-States in Distant Lands.
Thirteen Colonies - Have Distant Lands settlements produce more combined Production and Gold than Homeland settlements.

I also think it would be cool if there were some 'Dark Age' style legacy paths. The Dark Age concept in general is sorely underused in 7. What if losing your original Capital triggered a unique '''bad victory''' milestone? What if there was a 'Government in Exile' type route if you lost all your Homeland Settlements in Exploration? I really wish the Dark Age legacies were actually gamechanging and worth spending all your points for. It would be sick to have a rough Antiquity, then turn into a giant Mongol Horde in Exploration to get revenge rather than just quit.

I like this a lot. The era stars was a good feature in HK. You could earn era stars with lots of different playstyles. I definitely think civ7 needs more legacy paths so that there more playstyles are viable and can earn you legacy points. Right now, with only 4 legacy paths in each Age that never change, it is too limiting.
