Unique people pretty underwhelming?

I often find the situation where I have nothing meaningful to build in a city in a second half of the age. That's when those great people become an easy choice.

That's when I default to building them as well, which for me counts as 'flavor' rather than any sort of useful or strategic choice. If they were more impactful I'd be debating whether I should build them or something else.
 
Goggle's Swiss civ has a few new ideas on this:

Unique Civilian Units

Amtsbürgermeister
. A Great Person with one charge. Can only be trained in a Capitol, and the specific Amtsbürgermeister received is random. Each Amtsbürgermeister can only be received once. Cost increases per Amtsbürgermeister trained.

Possible Amtsbürgermeister Units:
  • Johann Conrad. Gain 1 Relic. Kloster gains 1 Relic slot.
  • Wilhelm Herter von Hertneck. Activate on an Army Commander to change its name to “Honorable men" Units within this Command Radius gain +4 Combat Strength when attacking.
  • Marx Röist. Activate on an Army Commander to grant 2 promotions.
  • Joachim Vadian. +5% Production from each Iron resource.
  • Elisabeth of Wetzikon. Create a Bank in a City. This Bank receives +4 Gold. Tile must have less than 2 Buildings and the City cannot have a Bank.


Lehrbeauftragter. A Great Person with one charge. Can only be trained in the Capitol, and the specific Lehrbeauftragter received is random. Each Lehrbeauftragter can only be received once. Cost increases per Lehrbeauftragter trained.

Possible LehrbeauftragterUnits:
  • Leonhard Euler. Activate in foreign capital to grant it Observatory. You recive +2 Science to all University and Stiftsarchiv.
  • Daniel Bernoulli. Activate in foreign capital to grant it a University. You receive +1 Science to all Specialists in Cities.
  • Paracelsus. Activate in foreign capital to grant it a Hospital. You receive a Scientific Attributes point.
