SM doesn't mess around, that's for sure.
Unfortunately, I think I read that the Leopard tank was Kinboat's last unit. His set of WWI units easily ranks as the best set of any time period in my book. Kryten is putting together some nice Greek-era units though.
My two personal favorite units are the Iron Frigate and Modern Infantry.

I don't think there is a best. I think that all the creators in the fourm are great and should be thaked deeply for thier hard work and time. I hope that kinboat will come back after a little break and make more units for us, but for now we still have another great creator SM to continue for now.

Soory nonnob3 I forgot all about you. please forgive me. if not for your german units the game would suck. But it is getting time for a few American units to be made to catch up.
Anyone who manages to create one of these incredibly complicated animations manages to make it into my hall of fame. Special consideration must go to Smoking Mirror and Kinboat, not just for the superb quality of their work, but also for sheer quantity! Well done to all unit creators!

Currently (well, at least i think currently) there are 261 units. Are you telling me you looked at every single one of them and ranked em?
You have more free time that I do!!!
I, However, could not rank them. They are all great. I just think they are going too fast. I add units to my mod, then start playing. I get half-way through the first era and find more units i want to add, and then start my game over so I can play with those units. I have played about 30+ games, but only made it to the second era 4 times. I guess this is a good thing?

I have found the only way to play a game to completion is to stay away from the forums. I haven't been registered long, I spent a long time lurking *evil grin* and if I visit the forums halfway through a game I give up, add the new units and start again. I have noooooooo self control! 
My favourite unit creator is anyone who has ever taken the time to share their work! And there's no shortage of theses people here at Civfanatics.

We should make differnt classes of creators...
There are some like Smoking mirror, who realy create enterely new 3D models, and others like me who only repaint existing untis...
I can say that, my work isn't comparable with Smoking Mirrors! That's like comparing a bike with an Ferrarri....

Actually, this thread is just a ruse to speed Dark Sheer up on his Musket Infantry!
For anyone who is interested in the project, the painful CUT process is fully completed for both Fortify and AttackA. Now its down to the even more painful process of PASTE as I need to maintain the clothes of the MusketInfantry copied from Industrial Leader while adding in the hands that aim and shoot a musket.

How about the cool cut and paste units... Sween32's NVA and Viet Cong come to mind... But they are all cool. I think that takes far more patience and skill than what I do.

When I started my Legion Etranger I thought that in a few days it will be finished...
But... That's relay much work!!
I don't want to make our "cut'n'paste" units! Every unit is an additional unit and therefore a good unit..
I just mentioned that if you make a completely new unit with a 3D prog, that looks like orignial Firaxis, than that this is another kind of work as the "cut'n'pasting"
BTW: One of the best units is the Trebuchet!

BTW Did you get the Civ 2 units? epikur converted all civ2 units to flc and i think that might be your offset there.
