This unit would be an upgrade to the explorer:

Damn cool miniatures, Kal-El. A Victorian era theme Sci-fi adventure scenario might be really cool. I can just see a Jules Verne/H. G. Wells/E. R. Burroughs set of units and tech tree (maybe even a good reason to use those dinosaur units). The idea wheels are turning.

I've been using the Civ3 Rifleman for that unit, and yes, I call it Adventurer. (Great minds think alike!) :D Now that we've got those 3 new cool musket infantry type units the Rifleman makes for a good Adventurer animation.

I've got it set as a hidden nationality unit with two movement points. I made the unit for my civ for the sole purpose of "flushing out" industrial era units that I added to the game. I found I was adding all these cool unit animations for AI civs but I would never see them! With the adventurer, I'd land one on foreign soil (made 'em cheap) and watch all the cool AI units come out to attack it.

I originally got the idea from that "Lost World" syndicated TV show. It looks pretty cool fighting Arab Riders, Assassins, Ninjas, Samurais etc. Anyway...that's what I use it for and the Rifleman anim looks pretty good to me. If someone can come up a Rifleman with a pith helmet or something all the better. :goodjob:

Now that I think about it...Wheel Gator's Boer rifleman would make a great Adventurer.

As far as the Victorian era sci-fi theme...I've put BlueO's Battle Angel in as a UU for the Aztecs. I call it the Condor Archer and give her one MP with All Terrain As Roads. No sound for the Run animation and it's pretty cool. She silently glides in over the mountains, jungle, whatever and attacks with a deadly barrage of arrows. She's actually the unit I made the Adventurer for. I put the Condor Archer in the game and I'd NEVER see one. I pop an Adventurer or two on Aztec soil and here come the Condor Archers! Sweet.

Just some ideas...

www.wargamesfoundry.com I have recommended the site on numerous occasions as a great resource for unit images. :)

the Boer rifleman could work, but WG only do part of the animations for that, and it still doesn't quite have the look I am going for. I really want that victorian feel. And I would have them as the upgrade to the explorer so they wouldn't be a combat unit. just give them the same stats as the explorer but maybe with better defense.

I already have the Explorer upgrading to the Jeep which upgrades to the Humvee, but its kind of a big gap between explorer and jeep.

It's Indiana Jones!

Hey, Kal, you know I'd do this one for you, but unfortunately I have been pressed for time lately.

Thanks Peso,

I just hope somebody will do it. There are lots of 3D models in the model thread now, so maybe somebody could grab one of those and use it as a base to get them started.

I'm going to be nice and help you out... After doing my human template I've been looking for a good unit to make as my first complete human model. I like the look of those miniatures :) Any preference on which one of those to do?

Ok let me know what you think of this one... The blue shirt is civ-color. He has a revolver in his right hand, a large pouch with a bandolier on his left and a canteen and another pouch on his back. I was thinking of giving him a machette as well and then giving him the clear jungle ability... Maybe I'll make a seperate animation of him hacking down plants :)

Here's a larger view :) What do you think I need for the different animations? I was thinking of him taking his hat off and wiping his forehead for a fidget... Don't really know what else. And do you want him to attack with his revolver?

Wiping the forhead sounds good, or possibly he could pull a map out of his side pouch and ponder over it. :)

Shooting the revolver sounds like a good plan.

For the colors:
Could you change the color of his pants to dirty khakis?

And could you mute the color of his shirt to use the lighter shades of civ colors rather than the bold blue you have now?

It looks fantastic. Thanks. :goodjob:

This unit looks unbelievable. What other units (besides the dragon) have you made Kinboat? And Im sure you know what coming next, sooo... Want to help on the star wars mod? Our leaderhead creator dissapeared and you have alot of talent in 3D animation. But, it is up to you.

Another great idea for the fidget... Maybe I'll combine them into one :) And color changes are no big problem as I've only done the first direction of the run. I've made quite a lot of units actually... upwards of 30 now if I've counted right. Have a look in the units library thread, they should all be there. As for joining a star wars team... I'm really more of a freelance type :) If you have any requests I'll consider them. I've only made one leaderhead but I'm trying to do more for the MtG mod... I might be willing to try a few futuristic leaders.

Yep I agree, thats quality work Kinboat.

I would use it as an idustrial age scout/explorer unit in a regular game.
