Unit Request: Russian T-96

This is the next generation of Russian MBT's the T-96...
I hope some one is interested in doing this unit because I'd love to have this unit so that I can use the t-90 for my Persians......

Are you absolutely sure such a tank exists? I've never heard of Russians developing a new MBT, especially with the T-90 being still so current.

I'm asking because I asked Mr. Google and he hadn't heard of the T-96 either.

It's actually T-95. Also called the Black Eagle or Object 640. It's a prototype of a possible new Russian tank. Here are a few more pics of the first prototype:

T-90s are new but they also suck their inferoir to even the T-80.

This won't be built anytime soon thou it would be up their in cost with an M1 and russia can't afford that.

Cool design... pretty unique. But I doubt that we will see it massproduced, as you said, to expensive for them I think.

bountifull in terms of resources be so poor?
Is it corruption?

Yeah, probably corruption I guess.

I like the low profile turret quite a bit.

But the tank look very nice, very unique... could be a good alternative to modern armor for the russians...

Corruption, bad leadership at most levels, horrible bureaucracy, all contribute...

But Russia does have a program to start procurement of military equipment in 2007, so maybe we'll see this tank fielded in not a very distant future!

About the design, I must say one thing...The russkies love to recycle those chassises.

Oh, and what're the reported sizes of the gun size? I know they're supposed to be more then the 120mms

According to some sources it might be 135mm or 140mm. Others say that in the final version they might have the 152mm!

The protype however has the standard 125mm gun.

As for the chassis, they are indeed borrowed from the T-80, however, that's done to simplify production of the new tank (as the old chassis are in production) and also make retraining of crews easier.

chassis only looks like an old one. But inside it differs a lot from T-90 and T-80.
