So, I noticed a spearman is Anti-Mounted, which is great. But what kind of bonus (if any) does it get against Mounted. So my question is, where do I see the bonusses units gets?

Is it me, or is the civilpedia very very vague (yea I skipped civ 5, as it was pants (60 bucks wasted on release), so jumping from 4 to 6)

e.g. in Civ 4, spearmen got +100% against mounted, what is the bonus in 6?

If you select a spearmen and hover over an enemy cavalry unit you'll see the the "bonus vs cavalry" as extra combat strength on the damage predictions (think it's +10?)

Thanks, I hate this though, I want to see by default how much extra it does, not only when I happen to fight an enemy. Information is key, bring back Civ 4 info screens!!!!

But thanks Onii-chan and KrikkitTwo for the quick replies :)

I think the real problem is that actual unit classes per se don't have individual civilopedia entries for whatever reason

Best LOL moment: a Pikeman with the Square promotion ("Double Combat Strength when occupying the same hex as a support unit") plus a Battering Ram defeating a Helicopter!:lol::lol:

Isn't there at least a strength modifier like -5 per era vs. more modern units? That would make sense.

Thats because "Square" breaks the civV combat system.
It should be +15 or even +25, as is it means an AT gun+battering ram is invulnerable to anything but nukes

(Side note: Battering rams+ Siege Towers should only affect Walls not the "Civil Engineering" free defenses...since it makes walls obsolete it should also make those units go obsolete...they can upgrade to Military Engineers which should have an effect on both walls and 'civil engineering' defenses....of courses tyere would need to be a clear graphical difference between walls and CE defenses)

Have you guys actually used square before? It doesn't give any offensive combat bonus at all.

However if it works it makes the unit unkillable on defense (well a spear might be threatened by gunpowder units..but a pike is unkillable until Industrial armies show up, and AT/bazooka is "anything but nukes")

Actually the Spearman isn't so hot, so I never got one to lvl 2. The description is as simple and unambiguous as it gets. If Square does not work as the text says, then good for the helicopter  ... well, only if it has 82 strength, as the text says :crazyeye:

well the pike would also get +10 so it would ether be str 102 or 92 (depending on when the doubling would happen, so not surprising)

In my tests I couldn't figure out what it does. Filthyrobot says that it doubles the defensive adjacency bonuses given by military tradition civic. So instead of +2 per unit, it gets +4. Not too bad but nothing dramatic.
