Im not great at combat, but to take a city in reasonable time (3-5 turns on Standard), what type and amount of units should i have for:

40 City strength
50 City strength
60 City Strength
70 City Strength
80 City Strength
90 City Strength
100+ City Strength

Currently I have a scenario where I have 5 bombers and 6 Battleships with a Ironclad. Can that take a 90 strength city?

There's so much features that matter so you won't get a simple answer.

1. Terrain (sea, land, hills (obstacle for land units, sight blocker for all), forests and jungles) It matters really much how quickly you are able to transfer your units.
2. Unit upgrades. Range and logistics are the most important.
4. Any defending troops?

Yes; any force with 2+ Battleships + a melee unit will eventually take any coastal city since you can park them at 3 tiles outside the city and so will take no damage and 2 Battleships will damage the city faster than it can heal.

In your scenario unless there's a bunch of AA Guns present it will probably take it in one turn. But even if the city is too strong after your Battleships & Bombers to send the Ironclad in that turn, it's definitely going to be enough next turn.

ok, i should have been more specific. this was Polynesia, who obviously had a navy. Several GW Bombers as well. They had moved a battleship into the city so it went up to 99 defense so yeah.... the terrain was very open, no hills/forests in the way, all 5 could attack from 3 tiles. All units in the war were built in cities with armory, but dont know from Polynesias size.
