Unit Upgrades

Great Forum and some excellent ideas.

Many threads mention units that can or can't be upgraded in the future. Is there a list of these anywhere because something like that would be really helpful to have to hand?

The main ones are swordsmen and cavalry. Also, wooden naval units cannot be upgraded to ironclads, and ironclads cannot be upgraded.

All of the defense units can be upgraded:
Spearmen->Pikemen->Riflemen->Infantry->Mech Infantry.

Some attacking units can also be upgrade, like:
Horsemen->Knights-Calvary or Tanks/Panzers->Modern Armor.

It's best just to check out the civilpedia, and browse the units. The lower part of the screen shows the next upgrade (if possible), and you can click the link to view the upgeade and it's upgrade.

Just remember, fighters and bombers cannot be upgraded to stealth.
