If you play the united kingdom scenario (one of the extra ones you can download), you are put on an island with only one other city which you can easily take out - partly because if you get a galley as soon as possible and head north, the pharoes needle is really close, usually gives you feudalism, then a few islands over is the city of gold, giving you enough money to rush a knights army before 2000 BC if you're lucky! Then if you're quick, you can pop over to the nearby island with the other civs on and take them out too with as many knights armies as you can build! I've won domination by 600AD that way!
