Hi everybody, i´m new here.
I´m a 22 years old argentinian guy who is trying to understand, and get involved in all this "civ2 internet community".
Anyway, i just want to ask 2 simple questions:
Is there a possibility to modify the units/cities limit in civ2?
I´d appreciate any kind of help.

Awaiting your clever answers,
Alejandro.

I don't think so :(
The cities limit is fixed at 255 cities, and the units limit is roughly 2000, so you should be able to work around them :)

Hi Morten,
Thank you for your welcome. I´ve seen your "Emin Pasha Relief Expedition " forum, and it seems to be a great one. You are taking it too serious, lot of customization work.
I asked the units/cities limit because i´m actually playing with a GigaMap, so this limit seems to be small. Anyway, i´ll have to work around them, as Case said.

A good work-around is to have each city represent a district rather then an actual city. For example, insead of having Los Angeles and San Diego as individual cities, combine them into a single city called 'Southern California'

Good idea Case!! I´ll try it. Thank you;)

also, I tend to run out of cities {and do so on purpose to prevent any more from being built} so the best advice I can give is to make the esseitial ones {moscow, berlin, toyko, new york} before the "others" that just hang around {centerville, lappa, russian mission, summerside} -which are in Canada-Russia-Alaska-and PEI- BTW

giga-map?

I always wants a bigger map!!!!

Morgasshk:
You can find it in the "download section/ real maps"

Mercator:
I donwloaded it, but i didn´t work. I assume that the problem is that i don´t have the "real" MGE. I only have the files that you cand find in the download section to convert Civ2 to Civ2 MGE.

Just to answer formally, what the nolimits patch and MapEdit do is (among other things) to allow maps that are way larger than the standard map sizes that comes with civ2. It only works, as Mercator said, with the Multiplayer Gold Edition (MGE) and Test of Time versions of civ2.

You can upgrade to MGE using Cedric Greenes patch in the downloads section, where you can also find Mercators excellent program. Then simply max out the size of an existing map with MapEdit, once you've installed it. And voilá, you've got yourself a megamap to play with in the Civ2 Map Editor.

Damn work computers... grumble, grumble... no downloads cra.p... grrrr....

Guess I'll have to get MGE then eh? (And the internet at home....)

Thanks anyway...

Morgasshk.
