Here is the problem,
I'm starting a new game, it's generating map and so on, and just before the button to start play appears, the cursor freezes and the game looks like frozen, I have to alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del (it takes up to 30 seconds), then once in windows, I alt-tab back to civ4, and then all runs fine, not frozen anymore.
I had the problem before the new patch, but not always, and only with huge maps. Now I get the problem on every map size (even tiny), and 10 out of 10 times I start a new game, or load a saved game.
I can also mention that after alt-tab, the graphics are often screwed : all get bit blurry with vertical lines appear on side of gumps, flickering, ... The way to fix this is to go to options => graphics, and change the anti-aliasing settings as it seems to reset the graphic engine.
Here is my computer spec:
Pentium IV 3Ghz
Geforce 6600GT PCI-E 128MB
2GB RAM
