v 1.52 install - "no valid source"

Original version works just fine on my machine. When I try to install patch 1.52, it says "Error 1706 - no valid source was found". Then it continues on like nothing had ever happened and tells me the patch installed successfully. But when I try to play the game, it obviously hasn't. What should I do?

I had the same problem and I uninstalled the game (saved games, everything) and then reinstalled the game, then installed only the latest patch. I don't know if this will work for you but it worked fine for me.
