Noticed this in a recent Conquests game. No idea if it's already known of or not, apologies if it is.
When an AI civ demands a non-monetary tribute (Tech, World Map, Resource etc.), give it to them. The communication dialog box remains up afterwards. Don't close it; immediately click 'we would would like to propose a deal'. For about 5 seconds, the item you just gave to the Civ as tribute will still be available to sell to them. If you quickly put the item on the table and accept their first offer, you can get something in return for it (besides a rather shaky peace). If you wait longer than a few seconds, the item will be removed from the table, or the civ won't offer anything for it.
Players: exploit it. Developers: fix it.
