Hello there!
I just finished my first game of RFC5. I played Carthage on prince. It was great to have the RFC feeling within CiV, thank you Rhye for making this mod!

To talk about Carthage:

1. The history: It took some time to get interesting. at the beginning, progress is very slow with only one city. By the time Rome spawned, I had just founded Qart-Hadasht. The only amusements were the little wars with Babylon and Persia at spawn. But around turn 160, it became very interesting. Founding 4 new cities, creating some wonders in Sur and Qart-Hadasht, the Defence war against Egypt and Persia (again) at the same time (which was quite tricky). The peak was around turn 220, when I conquered Rome. Poorly they were quite weak opponents in military way. I firstly went to Milan (yes, through the alps with my tiny elephants, just like Hannibal ). Then I tried to conquer Roma directly, but that made the Great Carthagian Empire unstable and very unhappy. So I reloaded and made Milan a Puppet city. Then I waited and took my troops to the south city by sea (witch was clean, thanks to Carthagian UU-Navy) while building Colosseums for happiness. After taking the city, I made peace, I didn't want to risk instability again.

Stability and Happiness went up, so some later, in a short but brutal war, I also took Roma. At that time, the Great Carthagian Empire ruled nearly all the Mediterranean Sea an was the strongest an most glorious in the world. Some turns after, the Huns spawned, which were no challenge at all. They hardly got to the Italian peninsula. Then the Great Empire fell apart: the barbaric camel archers raided the African cities and shortly after, the Arabs and Spanish spawned and took most of the cities. With my remaining troops, I tried to reconquer what was once glorious, but failed to the Arab troops. Finally, the Italian cites declared freedom and the Empire was no more. Just a tiny city in today Morocco reminds of the Empire, which lasted over 2 000 years.

Spoiler Furthest Expansion :

2. UHV (Role Play Victory): I only got 800 points, including building ~5 Wonders. It was my first game, so I was quite unaware of some things. I could have got FAR MORE points if I expanded faster. I founded Qart-Hadasht as early as possible, but with the following 4 I could have done much faster, I am sure. I think, the UHV is possible to beat, but as you see, not that easy, just as it should be, in my opinion.

3. Unique Units, Unique Power: The UUs are very strong. In fact, the UU-ship were the key to victory against rome. They had to make the sea clean for the land troops, and are strong supporters at naval cities. The elephant was just unstoppable at the war against Rome, but not because of itself, just because Rome had no spearmen. Against the Persian army or the camel archers, the elephant was not that good.
The UP was not that strong. Crossing mountains is a nice-to-have, but not very game-changing. The only use for me was in the Blitz-Attack against Milan over the Alps, otherwise useless. Also the free Harbor in each city are not that affective at the beginning, because it seems you need the Harbor tech too. Otherwise you don't get the free Gold through City-Connection. (Maybe a bug:think:)

4. Other nations: Rome and Greek were VERY weak. I could easyly conquer Rome, and Greek just sat on their peninsula without doing anything. I expected a huge war between Greece and Persian, but nothing happened. Persia was fine, in the two wars it was very hard to defend Sur. The Huns were unnaturally weak. The never were a threat to any of my cities, or to any other nation.

BUGS:
1. As said above, the Harbor doesn't work from the beginning, you need the tech too! For me it is a bug, maybe Rhye wanted it that way.
2. I am not sure if it is a bug or an unfinished part: The civics-screen seems to be broken. I cannot adopt the next sub-civic after the first. So I cannot invest my culture, it is just useless.

All in all. it was great to play RFC in CiV! Carthage was fun to play, even through I realised at some point that I won't get the victory.
Are there any suggestions which nation I should play next?

thank you! I'm taking notes. You could try other civs in different eras. Some do not have victory conditions yet...
How about Brazil?

Also would like hear, since you are fresh to civ5, a comparison between RFC4 and 5, in the feelings you get while playing. Besides single bugs, what's right and what's missing in the Rhye's and Fall experience compared to the 4 release.

Can Carthage be founded here? Wouldn't that count as a RP victory?
This place seems better. There's an oasis and a petra hill

So Brazil will come soon!
As you wish, I will try to focus more on the difference between 4 and 5, in the Carthage game I barely fought about that.
