varying turn times for clearing forest

If I build a biodome on an open grassland tile this will take 8 turns. If I build it on a forested grassland tile it takes 11 turns. If I just ty to clear the forest on the same tile this takes 10 turns!!!

This was just an example. It works with most (perhaps all other improvements) in the same way. Clearing forest as part of building an improvemnt just takes 3 turns. But if you just want to clear the forest it takes more than 3x the turns. Seems to me like a bug.

I think the same problem applies to removing swamp.

I did not add a save to confirm this as anybody can see it anytime he has at least one worker and a forested tile.:)

Biowells can be built on top of forests, so you're not actually clearing it. :)

Of course, it would be nice if that were documented anywhere.

This also doesn't explain why building a biowell over a forest is taking the extra time.

Sorry, I meant Biodome not Biwowell.:)

But as I said this happens for all improvements for which you have to clear the forest. Not just Biodomes.

The display telling you the time spent is bugged. It still takes 10 turns (without bonuses) to clear the forest before the worker starts on the improvement.

When you click on a tile with forest to make an improvement, the time displayed shows only the time it takes to clear the forest. Once the forest is cleared, THEN you see the actual amount of time it takes to make that improvement. The bug is in that the time displayed are not combines, but seperated, but it still takes a combines number of turns for the worker to complete.

As an example, if you want to build a farm on a forest grassland, it takes 16 turns (10 to clear forest, 6 to make farm). When you hover over the farm improvement with your worker, the display will only show 10 turns, as the OP is stating. Once you check back on your worker after 10 turns, after the forest is cleared, THEN you will see him start on the farm, and display 6 more turns to finish.

Thanks for making this clear, Terraslyer.:goodjob:

It would have been more elegant and less missleading if the combined turntime would be shown. And honestly I am surprised that it is intended that it takes 10 turns to clear the forest.

Its to make forests a significant hurdle instead of easy free production
