I have brennus as my vassal. I made a demand of him, and he just told me to bugger off. No war was declared, and he's still my vassal (except now I've got -10 you made an arrogant demand).

It says in the info center "The master can demand any resource from a vassal, even those that the vassal is using. The vassal has the right to refuse the demand but if they do they two states are immediately at war".

However this is clearly not the case.

It seems to be resources pure and simply. They can refuse everything else just as b4.

I just demanded that my very beligerant vassal "mansa moron" give me divine right, and he refused, and next turn he has the cheek to try and beg banking off me, with "it would go a long way to repairing our relationship " nonesense.

For friks sake, I conquered you, your my vassal you moron. I don't care about repairing our relationship, you're my puppet and you'll dance when your told too ;)

It's the same for resources though. Earlier on, brennus had pigs whilst I didn't, so I demanded them off him. He gave them to me, but after a while I got fed up with him being my vassal and decided I wanted to destroy him.

I canceled the deal, and after that he refused to give them back to me. No decleration of war, no cancelation of vassalage..... the big ginger beardy just stuck 2 fingers up at me :( He's taking liberties and theres nothing I can do about it. I wanna burn him god damn it!!!!!!!!

Hold on, on your screenshot, one of the trade proposals on Brennus's side is "Stop trading with Brennus"??? How on earth did that come up? How can he stop trading with himself?

Lol, it was my first warlords game, and in my haste to setup the game with all the new leaders.... I got brennus in there twice  :p

grin :) no worries, btw did you realise you turned into Cartman at the end of the previous post (god damn it!!!!!!!!) :mischief: thats what having a vassal does to you.

Now that would be an episode of South Park I'd have to watch, Cartman and his vassals......

Brennus is supposed to be my b*tch, and he won't do as I say! I was going to gift him a bunch of tech's to get his military up to scratch, but he's not getting anything if he doesn't respect my authority!!!

Sccccrrreewwww you brennus.. I'm going home!:goodjob:

It is my impression that the vassal is allowed to occasionally refuse demands for resources. You can repeat the demand, though, even on the same turn, and if he keeps refusing it will eventualy lead to war.

No... all it led to was -10 you made an arogant demand.

I canceled a deal with my vassal (he was giving me silk), and same turn demanded it from him again. He refused, without giving me the option to declare war on him. Next turn i tried again and this time i got the text that when he refused it would be war.

You should be able to install a Puppet Dictactor as ruler of your vassal, not sure if this is what capitulating historically involves.

What about torturing information out of their scientists? Mwahahahaha.
