G'day Penwa.. ;)
It's not that I am not interested however I don't think my computer could run a "biggest ever" map size. In fact, I have enough trouble with the large size maps so anything above large would be too much for my machine (in fact, now that I think about it, anything about Standard/late game would be too much). I'd love to be able to play Huge maps (always played those with Civ3) so a new machine I think is necessary. So don't include me but I'd like to lurk anyway.
Hopefully you'll get some signups soon.

lurker's comment: I would put myself in the same boat. Love to try a huge map, but I know my computer couldn't handle it - too old. Only 512K memory is the real killer. In civ3 some things would cause a long delay, but you could move freely. When you can't even move your view because it takes a second or more to respond - well it becomes too much for me to play you can't even look at your empire.

I am hoping you find enough people. It would be nice to have a late game save to see how bad it is. I am sure I will need a new computer before joining. Maybe someday.

LOL, I hope you mean 512 Megs I haven't had anything with < 512k since my old Apple IIe. 128k and I thought it was smoking. [pimp]

I've got a gig, everything at/above recommended except for the vid card, which is between minimum and recommended. I start dragging pretty bad late game even on standard maps. :(

Oh, and hi Penwa!

Ya, I meant megs of course :mischief: Don't know why I wrote k. As you state that hasn't been true for a long time.

I think with only 1 gig you might be able to play on low texture resolution and medium or low graphics. Going down in the graphics and turning stuff off makes a huge difference in performance. Even before the patch when memory was really bad, turning down my settings allowed me to play large maps just fine.

In any case, I would recommend trying this for anyone that does play unless you have a really good machine.

This sounds interesting, but I don't remember how a succession game plays. Does each player play the game for x number of turns and then pass the save to the next player? If so, sounds fun . . . IF you wouldn't get mad at me for "screwing it up"! ;)

I'm interested though I would like more detail. Lets begin with the difficulty; what do you mean by "hardish"?

ok well ill update the game details in a second, just got to get this dart out my head. ok there we go, well hopefully if your all blood thirsty angry warmongering fools like myself (sometimes) we will rule the world pretty quickly. yeah every player takes it in turn to have a go ruling th country then passes it to next in line, average amounts of turns per person is 10 but can be changed if you all want longer. the important thing is that you all play together as equals, just remember that im first amongst equals. :)

p.s screwing up is only a matter of opinion, e.g they said i screwed up when i caused a nuclear meltdown, i thought i was being safe by getting some sleep so i could work better. :mischief:

ok your on the list, after get another player or two ill start the game.

consider yourselves signed up, ill start the game tonight and post the save tommoz.

i took 20 turns, so everyone can cause thatsa good point about how long it is.

basically i created a warrior and a look around where we've set up shop, not alot round very jungly and there is some gold on a near by hill, plus some ivory in the tile next to london.
went for mystic something so we can get a religion soon as possible to help with research, plus didnt want to go for a worker cause it takes our growth away from london. so theres what i did, plus we met the greeks, or they met us. either way a scout said hello

heres the save

Can't you just send (e-mail) the save to the next person in the list?

One of the main reasons it isn't done this way is that other players in the game will often download the game so they can give more relevant advice on what to do next. Also sometimes lurkers are interested and will download a game.
