I have the civilization III complete cd set ( so thats all expansions) and over 2 months ago i had it installed and ran perfectly. Then sometime within the past 2 months i had to re format my computer D:

So now that I have decided to take up civ III again I install it( on the same computer) and i get a crapy message saying...

"Cannont locate the Civilization 3 Complete CD-ROM

Cd/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disble all CD/DVD emulation software and re-start the game"

so i then look into my control pannel(i have hardly ne computer skills btw) and go to device mannger but doesnt say nething in there about dvd/cd rom emulation...but yet i can play other games with cd's easily...

so if i cannnot fix my cd-rom by editing some settings is there such thing as a civ III loader?(not a no cd patch) where i can copy some files off of my cd and place them in some folder where it works like a cd?

The dvd/cd emulation wouldn't show up in your device manager, it's software. Check your add/remove programs for any kind of emulation software, virtual-cd drives, that kind of thing.

There's no such thing as a 'cd-loader'. You need the disc in to run the game.

thx for the reply =)

but i got the problem fixed...i had to do a regedit and delete all traces of any old cd-burner prog's i had in the past such as Nero

i guess the cd has some sorta defense if your trying to play on a cd/dvd burner....

Maybe for specific programs, but I have had civ loaded on two different systems, both with burners, and it's worked just fine. I don't remember what I had on my first system, but I think I've got something on the second system.

Just bad luck, I guess.
