Victory points (important for overall score?)

I wonder if your victory points have any influence on your overall score. Does it matter for your score to wait with bringing the princess to your capital (normaly 1000 points) untill the last city of that civ is destroyed (10.000 points ).

I believe that you only get the extra 10,000 points if you destroy the civ OR the other civ doesn't have a place for the Princess to return to; i.e. they only have a settler left, BEFORE you return to princess to you capital.

I have looked in the manual and have not found anywhere that it states that the victory points are added to you score or anything, so my guess is that aren't.

Nope..victory points are not added to the score at no point in the game. They're just there for reference
