I just bought a ATI 9550 256mbram vid card. When I install it, I get a black screen, won't even got to BIOs. The card is good because it works on my second PC. My main is a K7VTA3 v8.0 WIN XP 1gig ram. All the latest BIOs and VIA 4in1... Any suggestions? or do I take it back for a different make?

Is the Radeon 9550 AGP 2.0 compliant?

There are at least three AGP types: 1.0 (64-bit, 3.3volts), 2.0 (128-bit, 1.7~3.3v) and 3.0 (???)

To be honest, I don't actually know what they changed in AGP 3.0 because I left tech-support before it came out. If anyone is interested, Intel publish the white papers on their website.

It could be related though; judging from past experiences where people thought AGP2.0 meant x2 :crazyeye:

Do you have the monitor plugged into the video card. That stumped me, and almost took it in, but finally figured out to take the monitor cord out of the CPU integre=ated card and into the ATI 9200SE card slot.

I did a google search and it seems K7VTA3 doesn't have intergrated graphics. I took a website's word for it without checking the manual.

It doesn't have integrated graphics... After much deliberation, I took it back and got the nVidia 5500fx OC w/ 256m. Plugged it in, and it works BEAUTIFULLY!!! Thanks for the help though...
